At the turn of the year, we’ve all been eagerly waiting to hear when Death Stranding 2: On the Beach would be arriving—and now we have our answer: 26 June 2025.
This news comes by way of Hideo Kojima’s most recent panel at SXSW 2025, where he revealed an extensive 10-minute trailer for the game featuring new gameplay clips, cinematics, and characters joining the world of Death Stranding.
At the heart of the trailer is Neil – a new character played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli. Neil seems to be a reluctant smuggler transporting brain-dead mothers from Mexico and the trailer culminates in him leading a team of soldiers, looking very much like Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series. Kojima, of course, is famously the creator of the Metal Gear games.
Joining Luca Marinelli is his real-life wife Alissa Jung, who portrays Lucy. Alastair Duncan, whom you may know as Mimir in the God of War Norse saga games, rounds off the list of additions. However, while it wasn’t confirmed in the trailer, it does look like Ma Dong-seok (Train to Busan) will be making a cameo in the game as well.
As for the gameplay, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is looking more action-oriented this time around, with lots of gunplay involved as well as a Burnout-like race sequence featured in the trailer. But those who enjoy the more mellow transporting segments will also be thrilled to see the new environments like lush green jungles and rocky mountain terrains.
