We’ve previously covered this internationally-recognised brand arriving specifically at LUMINE SINGAPORE, Raffles City, but only as a limited-time exhibition. This time, we’re covering their all-new permanent outlet coming in early 2025, indicating that Blue Bottle Coffee is here to stay.
So without further ado, let’s explore what’s literally in store for this first outlet, and what this renewed partnership with LUMINE SINGAPORE means for Blue Bottle Coffee.
Made by and for Coffee Lovers
For those out of the loop, Blue Bottle Coffee was founded by James Freeman in Oakland, California, in 2002 with a simple yet revolutionary idea: to serve delicious coffee, roasted fresh and brewed to order, sourced from the finest coffee farms.
Since then from its humble beginnings as a small coffee cart, the brand has achieved internationally acclaimed as a leading name in specialty coffee, with outlets all across the world. These include not only cafés across the United States, but also stores in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, and now Singapore!
Specifically, this Singapore café aims to embody the essence of Blue Bottle Coffee’s meticulous approach to speciality coffee through its sourcing, roasting, and brewing processes. In fact, let’s talk about that!
Each single-origin bean is first sourced from direct farmer relationships, ensuring both freshness and support for local producers! Next, the beans undergo small-batch roasting, allowing for more control over their complex flavours and aromas through a more consistent, even roast. Finally, the beans are precisely brewed to let their delicate flavours shine, leaving us with a cup of joe so good it’ll impress even the most ardent coffee critics.
In addition to their signature coffee, guests can also enjoy a seasonally curated espresso menu, each prepared with the same level of care in sourcing and roasting that has defined Blue Bottle’s reputation worldwide.
Why Singapore and LUMINE
While we’ve talked a lot about Blue Bottle Coffee itself, it’s important to also remember how their expansion into Singapore and also Southeast Asia began: through LUMINE, a leading name in Japan’s retail and lifestyle scene.
The two brands share a deep history together, with several Blue Bottle Coffee cafes located within LUMINE-operated shopping centres in Japan, the first country that the coffee brand expanded to outside the United States.
Since then, they’ve held a partnership that is built upon a shared foundation in Japanese kissaten culture, craftsmanship, and the spirit of hospitality; evidenced by the plan of a new Blue Bottle Coffee set to open as a key tenant at NEWoMan TAKANAWA, LUMINE’s latest shopping destination in Tokyo, March 2025.

Meanwhile, Teruyuki Omote, President and Chief Executive Officer of LUMINE Co., Ltd, aptly described Singapore as “home to a vibrant café culture and a growing appreciation for speciality coffee.”
