The AI revolution in smartphones continues into 2025, with HONOR’s newest flagship device placing it right at the forefront. The new HONOR Magic7 Pro comes with the bells and whistles of AI—think note summary, image object removal, and others—but it also has a couple of AI features unique to the phone.
With the HONOR Magic7 Pro slated to launch this month, we review what users will get to uncover with HONOR’s latest smartphone.
HONOR Magic7 Pro
Let’s begin with the hard specs. Coming in with a 6.8-inch display, the HONOR Magic7 Pro is a fairly large phone additionally equipped with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate as well as a 5,000 nit HDR peak brightness.
HONOR has also built the device to be especially robust for users. With the company’s proprietary NanoCrystal Shield, the phone is touted to be 10 times more durable against drops than normal glass. That isn’t all though! It also comes with IP69 and IP68 for water and dust resistance, making it super durable against all kinds of scenarios.
At the back, you’ll find the triple camera system (dubbed the AI HONOR Falcon Camera system). The main highlight of the system is the 200-megapixel Ultra-telephoto Camera, which is equipped with an advanced 1/1.4-inch telephoto sensor and large f/2.6 aperture. These specs would come in handy for shooting faraway subjects or nightscape photography.
Meanwhile, the primary camera and the ultrawide camera are no slouches as well. Both are 50-megapixels, with the main camera having an industry-leading 1/1.3-inch sensor with a f/1.4 adjustable aperture lens.
Inside, the HONOR Magic7 Pro has a 5,850mAh third-generation silicon-carbon battery. Silicon-carbon is an emerging technology that uses silicon-based anode materials to enhance battery performance while reducing its size. It’s what keeps the phone slim whilst boasting a large battery capacity—expect other phone manufacturers to ride the same wave.
And it comes with an exceptionally fast charging speed as well. By using the 100W Wired HONOR SuperCharge, users can also get the phone back up to speed very quickly in just 33 minutes. It also is speedy with wireless charging, with an 80W Wireless HONOR SuperCharge available too.
AI
Finally, the phone is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which brings bigger performance gains over the previous generation compared to other yearly upgrades.
More importantly, the processor is what makes the HONOR Magic7 Pro’s AI features tick, like Magic Portal for instance. Magic Portal is an exclusive feature; by circling over a subject on the screen (text, images), the system recognises the information and brings up useful apps to follow up.
For example, you can circle a text conversation with a friend who has mentioned an address. Magic Portal will understand that it is a location address and will subsequently suggest several apps – one of which could be a navigation app. HONOR does not mention what apps will be supported through the feature, but they do assure that it will be a wide variety that encompasses social media, entertainment, travel, productivity, and shopping.
Another unique HONOR-AI feature is Deepfake Detection. The company says that the phone is the world’s first commercial device to integrate AI deepfake detection, using advanced algorithms to identify manipulated content. With this, users can check if there is a deepfake face swap during video calls for added security.
In terms of photography, the AI HONOR Image Engine enables an elevated shooting experience in several ways. AI Enhanced Portrait brings better portrait images with more definition and vibrancy, AI Super Zoom lets users capture clear images of very distant subjects, and AI Motion Sensing Capture keeps subjects sharp even if there is lots of movement.
Even the display gets some AI benefits. It comes with a feature called Natural Light HONOR AI Eye Comfort Display, which helps with eye care by simulating natural light characteristics
across all dimensions. Similarly, the Circular Polarized Light Display mimics the characteristics of sunlight to provide gentle, consistent lighting to users when viewed at any angle.
Other smart features like AI Translation, AI Summary, AI Photo Edit, and more are also present here in this device. And rounding up the smart functionality of the HONOR Magic7 Pro, it will come pre-installed with the new Google Gemini app. If you aren’t familiar with Google’s latest AI assistant, it is a more conversational assistant compared to Google Assistant – allowing users to change their thoughts mid-sentence, ask follow-up questions, and multitask.
PORSCHE DESIGN HONOR Magic7 RSR
Alongside the Magic7 Pro, HONOR is also bringing another device – the PORSCHE DESIGN HONOR Magic7 RSR.
It’s a special edition phone made in collaboration with Porsche Design, with the design inspired by the iconic Taycan Turbo S. It features a hexagonal camera module reminiscent of striking four-point headlights and a distinctive central Peak Line that harkens to Porsche’s sleek hood lines.
It’ll have much of the same specs and features of the Magic7 Pro, but the telephoto camera does have a larger f/1.88 telephoto aperture. HONOR claims that it is the industry’s largest telephoto aperture and performance can rival that of professional telephoto lenses.
The phone will come in two colours that are also found on the Porsche exterior. You can either have the classic Agate Grey or the newer Provence, which features a flamboyant purple hue.
