Quincy House Singapore: The DANAMIC Stay Review

‘Tis the season to be resting, fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la! 2024, you’ve been cruelly fast, and you brought with you a slew of highs and lows that have been tough to cope with. But with your end comes the time to finally slow down and unwind from your craziness. And what better way to do this than with a long-stay staycation? Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the new player on the staycay block – Quincy House Singapore!

Quincy House Singapore isn’t your ordinary hotel but a luxurious serviced apartment intended for longer stays, with a minimum of six nights. With 255 stylish units (with pet-friendly options to bring your furry babies along!), this property consists of Deluxe Rooms, One-Bedroom, and Two-Bedroom apartments. Whether you’re travelling to Singapore for a longer stay or need a change of space from your home, Quincy House’s offerings will not disappoint you.

Located in the heart of Holland Village with an outdoor mall mere minutes from the property and a myriad of stores and restaurants at your service, Quincy House proves its attention to detail in providing you with the perfect home away from home that you need. I got to stay in their Deluxe Room, and here’s what my entire experience was like, with unparalleled honesty.

Lobby

The bright sun + the warm living room vibes of the lobby = bliss

Immediately, Quincy House won me over. The lobby felt like a beautiful embrace. It beckoned me forth like a moth to a flame, and I felt like I was well and truly at home. The brown accents, warm light fixtures, and brick decor felt warm and cosy, with the perfectly balanced feel of luxury, never feeling too out-of-touch or daunting. Everything about the interior had me imagining my own dream home. It was the perfect hello to Quincy House.

It’s said that a hotel’s front desk is the face of the accommodation. It sets the tone for your stay. At these serviced apartments, Quincy House’s kind staff made me feel like royalty returning from war with their incredible service. Just a teaser for you – they carried our bags up to our room. We had only two small ones, but still. Royalty. This is the princess treatment I’ve been demanding from the universe and the angels of Quincy House heard me loud and clear!

As you check in for your stay, the staff also presents you with a welcome drink, but with a twist! Depending on your mood of the day or how you feel about your upcoming stay at Quincy House, you get to choose between three moods and, therefore, three drinks called the ‘Quincy Shots’.

A welcome drink with a twist!

If you’re feeling like a chill stay and crave a refreshing and comforting escape, you get the Honey Yuzu shot (which was my personal favourite!). If you’d like to embrace your individuality and express your artsy and creative side, pick the Style drink, which gets you the Acai drink (if you love acai, this is a heaven-sent for you; it’s delicious albeit a little thick). If you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure, your choice lies in the Wow drink, which entails a watermelon lime drink (it tastes uncannily like what it sounds like).

Based on your choice of drink and feel, Quincy House curates the perfect stay for you with recommended places around the accommodation to pay a visit and enrich your experience. Some of these locations also get you a discount when you show them your keycard as part of their partnership with Quincy House. Not only do they provide you with a cosy stay, but they also set the stage to elevate your stay with all the amenities around the accommodation! But we’ll get to that in a bit!

The munchies bar saw me many times during my stay…

As you walk through the lobby, you’ll also find a munchies bar with water (sometimes flavoured) and little bites.

During my stay, I saw a divine array of nacho chips, banana chips, cereal bites, and oat mix. Along with a handy-dandy coffee machine and a variety of teas, this entire munchies bar is at your service 24/7, which is lovely for when you’re looking for a yummy hot drink to start and end your day or something to munch when you’re feeling peckish throughout the day. It’s a must-visit.

Room

Ah, your haven during your stay. Or is it? We’re going to have to get the jury out for this one

The room comes equipped with amazing amenities that you’ll need during a long-term stay. From a microwave oven with utensils and cutlery for your inner foodie, down to even an umbrella for Singapore’s relentless skies. Some of them are (like the microwave) are pretty uncommon to find in local hotels, and makes sure that you are armed for any and everything during your stay.

These come with the basics like a television (that too, a 43-inch LED TV that swivels for the perfect viewing experience) with cable channels, a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, a mini fridge, an electric kettle, a safe, and slippers. In the Quincy House, you have everything!

The room also comes with a thoughtful amount of storage space for your daily items. Hangers are provided for you to hang your more precious, cannot-be-wrinkled clothing. There are also ample shelves for your clothes and bags to be placed (or honestly, strewn all over without a care in the world), along with space even under the bed and the bedside tables. You see, very thoughtful storage space!

The view from the room is also breathtaking. People-watching might be one of my favourite hobbies, and you get to do that so effortlessly with the floor-to-ceiling windows that give you a glimpse into the lives of those wandering at the feet of the building.

A queen bed awaits you in the centre of the Deluxe Room

Now, let’s talk about my least favourite parts of the room – everything else. Let’s first start with the bed. The bed is the crown jewel of your stay in any hotel or accommodation. It dictates how well you rest and how kindly your body is treated during the treat you give to yourself. However, the bed we had in our room at Quincy House was massively disappointing.

The mattress itself was very firm. While some of us might prefer this, my impression of a vacation bed is one that has me singing “ahh” as soon as I sink into its embrace. This didn’t have me sinking or bouncing into bed. It was plain firm. However, the comfortable duvet distracted me enough. That was until it was time to sleep.

When it was lights out (oh, the nightlight is also very considerate, with the bathroom and the floors lighting up aeroplane-style), and my head hit the pillow, I also hit my next disappointment of the night. The pillows were also extremely firm. So much so that I could barely sleep all night, tossing and turning in bed, and my neck was sore the next morning.

For a place that hopes to appeal to different people with different tastes, especially for long-term stays, I hope the incredible thoughtfulness that was dedicated to the storage space and nightlights could also be shown in the choice of mattresses and pillows. A suggestion is for a more neutral mattress and pillows of different sizes or firmness to cater to different preferences.

Speaking of lights, I would’ve also loved the option to adjust the lighting to fit the feels of the night or to adjust to the dark of night. Right now, the settings of the lights are such that it’s either all the lights are on or you’re plunged into complete darkness (with the option of reading lights and the nightlights on or off). Just like how we’re told to create our own Quincy experience at the concierge, I wish I could create my own lighting experience in the room, too. But maybe that’s just me being way too spoilt!

Your workspace!

The room also comes with a little seat and a small laptop table. This is your workspace during your stay. While I sure do hope with my all that you’re free from the bonds of work while you try to unwind, this is also the only thing you have to work on, unless the bed is your choice of desk (it would be mine!). It’s not uncomfortable, but it’s also not conducive or sustainable for a long-term stay. Especially if you’re staying with someone else who also needs to work, there’s only room for one. Your closest power socket is the one you share with the bed.

And that’s a battle of its own. Both bedsides come with one power socket each and a USB plug-in, with one side completely occupied by the telephone that’s in every room. Hence, in order to charge my telephone (which requires a USB-C cable instead and, hence, cannot use the USB plug-in), I’d have to unplug the one provided. It’s just not ideal at all. Speaking of bedside tables, they were also a little bit of a hazard. They’re incredibly narrow, with lots of possibilities of clumsiness-fuelled accidents, like knocking things off the stand.

It’s such a shame that the experience of the bedroom itself does not live up to that of the rest of Quincy House, especially with their incredible service and fantastic amenities, which we will get to soon. But may your experience in the room be ever in your favour.

Bathroom

Ah, a generously sized bathroom does exist!

But this is where the princess treatment resumes! I finally see a bathroom that busts the ugly hotel mirror conspiracy theory. Lighting in hotel rooms is always horrendous for when we doll up and do our make-up to seize the day. But in the bathrooms at Quincy House, I was pleasantly surprised. That shower definitely treats you right, with infinite temperature settings and a rain shower for an ultra dose of relaxation.

The sink and the space around the sink are lovely. You know how when you see a sink counter in a bathroom, you can tell if it was designed for a woman or not? This most certainly is. Given the space and layout of the bathroom, there is ample counter space around the sink to place your toiletries bag and lay out your make-up. There is also space beneath the sink for extra storage, too!

Your business is well and truly taken care of here

Continuing with the princess treatment is the toilet flush that comes with a bidet that you can control with the push of a button! In an attempt to not gross you out with an over-explanation, all I will say is that Quincy House redeems itself here.

Kevin Murphy bath amenities are also provided, and my, oh my, do they smell divine. They’re a little small for a longer stay accommodation, which was why I wasn’t expecting disposable minis. But they get topped up daily during housekeeping, so your supply is kept fresh and never-ending. You also get the basic toiletries you can request when you run out. And I promise you’ll never go thirsty with the trusty water dispenser next to the sink.

Oh, yes. You’re taken care of

Facilities

Pool

Ah, heaven. I meant the pool!

The world might have lakes that freeze over the second December comes around, but here at Quincy House, you’ll have a massive pool overlooking stunning views of the country that will keep you cool no matter how tormenting the Singapore sun may get. A neat trade-off, don’t you think?

But the best part about this pool is that it comes with an outdoor lounge that would be the perfect retreat and escape from the world, as well as its insane hustle and bustle. With a refreshing breeze hitting your face and brushing through your hair and panoramic views that soothe the eyes after staring at emails all year long, this lounge itself was one of my favourite parts of Quincy House.

Fitness Room

The sheer size makes this feel like a playground (one that might inflict more pain than joy in some)

As for you exercise-minded folks, I’ve never seen a Fitness Room (or gym) this big, especially not for a serviced apartment. I wish I could blow you away with my gym lingo (I can’t), but I can blow your mind with the revelation that this 24-hour Fitness Room is at your service whether you’re looking for an intense, adrenaline-pumping workout or a yoga or mat pilates session. With the diverse range of equipment and machines at your service and the massive space, your exercise regime here is limitless!

The Fitness Room also overlooks a dog run, which means you might just get the treat of your life, watching adorable doggos getting their workout in while you run it out on the treadmill! If no dogs grace your workout, you’ll still have a gorgeous piece of art to place your gaze at when the workout gets a little much. The piece is what we believe to be the Setting Sun by Dale Chihuly, with its warm hues reminiscent of the, you guessed it, setting sun. It really is a fitting piece to adorn the entrance of Quincy House as well as the outside of the Fitness Room!

Whether you gaze out at the dog run or the artwork, your workout will never be boring!

Laundry Room

Laundry, you will never be a pain in the house of Quincy…

Did you think doing laundry would be boring? Think again, my friend. Quincy House has revolutionised the simple act of doing laundry in what you’d assume to be a mere corner with harsh lighting, surrounded by nothing but washers and dryers. Ah, at Quincy House, doing your laundry has been transformed from a chore into an experience.

You’ll see the usual slew of washers and dryers, this time in dramatic warm lighting with an inviting and cosy interior, with brown hues surrounding you and a dash or two of cute signs. Waiting for laundry to be done might be your peeve, but there’s a space right outside the washers and dryers for you to get some work done, read magazines, or mingle with others who may be waiting for their load. I think I even remember spotting some games you can play while waiting! The attention to detail in making an annoying chore feel like an experience is incredible.

If someone asks where you’re taking a work call from, you can say, “the laundry room!”

The Quincy Qurate

Ah, we get to the highlight of your stay at Quincy House. Remember those delicious (child-friendly) shots you took during your check-in? They’re a part of Quincy House’s special feature called The Quincy Qurate. It’s their curated neighbourhood guide that allows you to unlock the true potential of the rich surroundings of Holland Village, seeking out the experiences they think you’ll enjoy the most.

So, depending on your choice of drink, these are the routes curated for you – Quincy Chill if you’re looking for relaxation (if you had the delicious honey yuzu), Quincy Style if you’re craving trendy finds (if you got the acai drink), and Quincy Wow if you’re on the hunt for adventure (if you tasted the watermelon lime drink). However, do not feel at all restricted by these routes. Consider them suggestions and tips for elevating your stay.

Some of these locations also offer you a discount when you show them your oh-so-mighty room keycard. You’ll definitely want to read on to for some insider discounts you can get at some of these places, so keep scrolling. But before we get into these routes, let’s get cracking on what exactly this location is like!

Location

Quincy House in the dark of night and light of One Holland Village!

Situated in the heart of Holland Village, Quincy House gives you easy access to everything – from fantastic food and delectable desserts to magnificent massages and supreme shopping options.

However, if you’re looking to do some shopping, the options here are a tad scanty. There are more artisanal and speciality stores here, like art, curated fashion, and electronics. Nonetheless, there are a myriad of food options here, which make sure you’re spoilt for choice! You’re also close to Holland Piazza, another modern shopping mall bursting with dining options.

You’re also closest to Holland Village MRT station, which is about a ten-minute walk away from Quincy House. You’re a stop away from Buona Vista and, thus, the East-West line, which means you’re limitlessly connected to the rest of the country despite being in the west. There are also some bus stops nearby that are just some rendezvous waiting to happen!

Everything about Quincy House’s offerings was amazing, except what we talked about regarding the bedroom and the bed. Those were truly disappointing and cannot be ignored while you make your decision about whether to stay here, especially since booking a stay at Quincy House means a long-term stay. Nonetheless, everything else about the accommodation, from their generous facilities to their lovely neighbourhood, is unmatched.
