The AI revolution has taken over smartphones, but now it seems that laptops are the next beneficiaries. The AI-centric Copilot+ PCs were announced by Microsoft back in May this year and Lenovo is part of the party, unveiling their latest lineup of laptops with AI capabilities.
We’re not talking about PCs optimised for ChatGPT or Adobe AI Generation. Much like recent smartphones, these laptops are directly integrated with advanced AI features that enhance productivity and creativity for users.
Among the line-up for Lenovo’s AI-powered laptops are Yoga Pro 7, Yoga Slim 7x, IdeaPad 5x 2in1, IdeaPad Slim 5x, ThinkPad Z13, ThinkPad T14s Gen 5, ThinkPad T14 Gen 5, ThinkPad P14s Gen 5, ThinkPad E14 Gen 6, and ThinkPad T14s Gen 6. But the jewel in the crown are the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition and Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition laptops—both part of the Aura Edition series which offer enhanced AI capabilities.
Here is what you can get to experience when getting a new laptop from Lenovo:
Copilot+’s AI Features
For the uninitiated, Copilot+ PCs are Microsoft’s new set of PCs built with AI features into the system—that means there is no need to download third-party software or apps if you want to take advantage of any of those features.
Copilot acts as your AI companion on the device. It works very much like ChatGPT—you can ask it questions, aid you in brainstorming ideas, or even assist with writing code. While it is currently available online, users can simply tap on the dedicated key to bring it up and use it.
But there are other AI features to look forward to. On the Paint app, you can complement your drawings with text prompts to help with generating new images. And the performance from the Copilot+ Lenovo laptops allows for these images to adjust as you iterate on your work.
For the Photos app, there is a new tool called Restyle Image that reimagines your photos by combining image generation and photo editing. With this, you can change the background and foreground or even the entire picture to create something brand-new.
AI also helps third-party applications as well. Programs like Adobe Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve Studio, CapCut, and more benefit from the NPU accelerated performance from the architecture of the Copilot+ devices.
Aura Edition
So that’s what Lenovo’s range of Copilot+ PCs can do, but within that same lineup are two laptops with even more capabilities. In arrives the Aura Edition, specifically the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition and Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition.
Touted as Lenovo’s highest-tier category of products, the Aura Edition offers a little more up its sleeves. One such exclusive software is Smart Modes, which like Copilot, has a specific key on the keyboard for quick use. Smart Modes has several useful features like Power Mode (a power management tool) and Wellness Mode (using AI to check posture and eyestrain), but it also has unique ones like Shield Mode, which can detect lurkers while you are working and promptly blurs the screen for privacy.
Another cool feature is Smart Share, which lets users transfer photos to and from their phones to their laptops just by tapping the side of the screen with their smartphones. The feature uses Intel Unison and works with both Android and iOS devices. Users can also manage their galleries straight from laptops without needing to go back and forth between devices.
However, one underrated exclusive that the Aura Edition laptops have could be Smart Care. Smart Care isn’t your typical software feature, rather, it is all about providing instant assistance to users who may have issues with the laptop.
For instance, you may have trouble pairing your earbuds with the laptop and nothing seems to solve the problem. Using Smart Care, you can start a live chat with an agent who can help you through it at any time of the day. Excessive? Possibly, but the option is there.
