Families, fall in! Following last year’s successful National Service (NS)-themed camp by SAFRA, MINDEF’s Advisory Council on Community Relations in Defence (ACCORD) has brought it back again this year with the upcoming Our NS Family Camp 2024: BMT FAMILY EDITION, which will once again take place SAFRA Yishun from 16 to 17 November 2024.
If you aren’t familiar with what Our NS Family Camp 2024: BMT FAMILY EDITION is all about, the camp lets participants experience various activities undergone by all Singaporean sons during Basic Military Training—with the hope of encouraging greater support from families for NS and NSmen.
But while the camp may be aimed at NSmen and their families, everyone is welcome to join in – even non-Singaporeans! Curious to know what kinds of activities will be offered? We’ve got you covered!
Activities
This year’s camp features an expanded list of activities from last year. Returning experiences include Outdoor Tent Pitching, Water Attack, and Basha Building, but there are new additions like Outdoor Cooking – a wholesome activity that will bond families together! To further immerse participants into BMT life, the camp will teach military songs which will be sung when travelling from one place to another.
Beyond that, there are also other activities that will enable participants to have a glimpse of the different services within the military.
For instance, if police procedurals have ever stoked your curiosity for crime scene work, you may be interested in the new Crime Scene Investigation on The Tan’s Siblings. You won’t get a better chance at seeing how investigators work than with this activity!
Another is the Imagery and Map with Drone Flying activity, which gives you and your family the unique opportunity to see and interact with drones!
