Razer Makes Waves with New Releases at RazerCon 2024

At RazerCon 2024, Razer dropped some bombshell announcements that rocked the gaming industry, and in this, we’ll take you step-by-step through every one of them. As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to see some of the huge developments in gaming being presented by Razer here!

Razer Freyja

RazerCon New Release: Razer Freyja
Get closer to your games than ever before.

The Razer Frejya genuinely feels like something out of a science-fiction novel – something that the main character would strap into before diving into an immersive virtual reality game a la Ready Player One.

As the world’s first 3D haptic gaming cushion, the Frejya brings your game out of the screen and into the world around you – with six cutting-edge motor actuators delivering real-time tactile feedback based on what’s happening in the game. Whether it be the delicate pitter-patter of calm rain or the thundering body-shaking sensation of a nearby explosion, the Razer Freyja gives precise haptic feedback that transcends the gaming experience.

In addition to gaming, the Razer Freyja functions when listening to music or watching movies, providing haptic feedback for a whole new dimension of experience. For easier connectivity, the Razer Freyja is compatible with Razer HyperSpeed Wireless and Bluetooth, enabling the device to connect to your PC and other Android devices via the Razer Nexus app.

Have a seat!

Lastly, Razer knows everyone hates untidy wires and cables strewn everywhere, so the Razer Frejya comes with a quick-release connection that minimises messiness and snags in the wires. Adjustable straps on the back allow the Frejya to comfortably fit most office and gaming chairs, and gamers can personalise their tactile feedback settings or pick from several presets through Razer Synapse 4.

Overall, this is a really exciting development for gaming. Haptic feedback gaming devices have been around for a while, but it’s always been somewhat limited – the DualSense only works for your hands.

The Razer Frejya is already available for purchase at S$459, so get one before they’re all gone at Razer.com or RazerStores! Purchase from authorised resellers will be available at a later date.

Kraken v4 Pro

It’s back, brighter and better than ever before.

Longtime fans of Razer will be thoroughly familiar with the Kraken series of headphones, one of the most reliable, immersive and well-known lines of gaming headsets in the world, the new Kraken V4 Pro lives up to the reputation of its predecessors – and does even more.

Alongside the base Kraken V4 and the Kraken V4 X, the Kraken V4 Pro is a revelation in gaming headsets, incorporating Razer’s Sensa HD Haptic technology directly into several games such as Silent Hill 2 and Hogwarts Legacy.

This brings with it a revolutionarily immersive experience that’ll make you question if what you’re feeling is from real life or the game, allowing you to feel everything from the low rumble of faraway storms to the hair-raising feeling of bullets flying by.

The guts of the Kraken V4 Pro’s speakers.

Utilising developments on the bleeding edge of immersive audio technology, the Kraken V4 Pro uses Razer’s patented TriForce Bio-Cellulose 40mm drivers and THX Spatial Audio with 7.1 surround sound for the cleanest, richest, most realistic audio experience in gaming. Custom-tuned audio settings for over 60 games using THX Game Profiles help gamers dive seamlessly into the action without worrying about their sound settings.

As for audio inputs, the Razer HyperClear Super Wideband Mic delivers beautifully clear, pro-level voice clarity, all retractable into the body of the headphones when you don’t require it.

New to the Kraken series is the addition of the OLED Control Hub, perfectly designed based on audio amps, this nifty device acts as a central command for customising your audio experience and monitoring PC performance. Set at an ergonomic 20 degree angle for easy tweaking mid-game session, it gives gamers total control while barely having to lift a finger.

Finally , a first for the Kraken line is the ability to connect through 4 modes – Razer

HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth, USB, and 3.5 mm, allowing the Kraken V4 Pro to switch between different audio inputs without disruption.

Another new feature, this time for any Razer headset, is the V4 Pro’s ability to layer audio input from both 2.4GHz and Bluetooth sources at once, giving a more layered, full sound experience.

The Razer Kraken V4 Pro is already on sale for S$459.99

Razer Laptop Cooling Pad

Did things just get chilly in here?

During intense gaming sessions, keeping cool – for both the gamer and the hardware – is a must. While keeping chill under pressure is something pro gamers can learn, an overheating laptop can only be fixed by something like the Razer Laptop Cooling Pad

Suitable for use with any laptop between 14 inches to 18 inches, the Razer Laptop Cooling Pad is the perfect cooling solution for intense gaming sessions, with features such as smart fan control, an airtight pressure chamber and 3 magnetic frames. Smart cooling enables the Cooling Pad to automatically adjust its fan speed depending on the temperature of various laptop components for maximum cooling efficiency.

You’ll be the coolest gamer around (pun intended)

For the best performance, the Cooling Pad features a 140mm fan that circulates cool air through the cooling pad and the laptop through a system of airtight seals. With this, the Cooling Pad is capable of reducing GPU and CPU temperatures by as much as 18%.

With Razer Synapse, users can control all aspects of the Cooling Pad, from the RGB lighting on the front, to the fan speed and settings if they want a specific setup from their cooling system. Additionally, the Cooling Pad is equipped with a dust filter to block out external contaminants from interfering with the effectiveness of the cooling system.

The Razer Laptop Cooling Pad will go on sale for S$192.39 in the 4th quarter of 2024 at Razer stores and authorised resellers, so stay tuned!

Thunderbolt Share

Thunderbolt™ Share makes light look slow

In an announcement that will come as a pleasant surprise to all Razer Blade 18 (2024) model owners, Razer has made Intel Thunderbolt Share available on the aforementioned laptops! Breaking new ground as the world’s first ever Thunderbolt 5 laptop, Blade 18 users will be able to connect two PCs and start sharing peripherals (keyboards, mice, monitors), and allowing for astonishing file transfer speeds of up to 40gbps.

Already available worldwide, there’s no reason not to get this update!

Razer Synapse 4

Faster, smoother, smarter, better.

All of your Razer hardware has to be linked somehow – and that way is Razer Synapse 4 – all-new and improved after almost a year of beta testing and community feedback for the best gaming control experience possible.

The main draw of Razer Synapse 4 over its predecessor is the whopping 30% increase in overall processing speed, letting users perform routine tasks such as installing new drivers, customising macros and customising their hardware with impeccable smoothness.

Using a new, innovative multi-threaded architecture, Razer Synapse 4 keeps the rest of your system running without any hiccups by compartmentalising each device, ensuring the modification of one doesn’t affect the rest.

Other quality-of-life upgrades include a fresh user interface with a more streamlined design, floating tips and centralised settings management makes navigating Razer Synapse 4 much less of a challenge. What’s more, any Synapse 3 device will be able to use Synapse 4 perfectly due to backwards compatibility, and popular Synapse 3 features such as Razer HyperShift, Rapid Trigger and Advanced Macros remain!

Even mouse settings get a facelift in Synapse 4!

For Razer Mice particularly, Synapse 4 has introduced 1 DPI Steps Adjustment, letting gamers tweak their mouse DPI with pixel-perfect precision. Sensitivity Matcher Calibration is another new addition, making it so that DPI settings can be transferred between different mice without any change in performance

Lastly for the mice, Advanced Asymmetric Cut-Off is a feature to help gamers adjust their mice lift-off and landing distances with pinprick accuracy, a big help when tailoring one’s setup to exact specifications.

…and let’s not forget keyboards!

Finally, Razer has allowed users to enable Razer Snap Tap on their keyboards with the release of Synapse 4, a feature previously only available on the Razer Huntsman V3 Pro line. Snap Tap is a function that maximises keyboard responsiveness by prioritising the latest input of two selected keys on a keyboard without needing to release the previous key.

Snap Tap is available on some Razer keyboards synced to Synapse 4, and even all Razer Blade laptops! If you want to find if your keyboard is eligible for this upgrade, visit Razer.com/Synapse to check!

What’s Next?

Next year in 2025, Razer will celebrate 20 triumphant years of innovation and success in the gaming industry. Marking this significant milestone is the return of the Razer Boomslang for an ultra-limited run! This lauded mouse was a mainstay of the early gaming equipment industry, and for its 2025 release, it’s been brought up to modern specifications with state-of-the-art upgrades to help this mouse maintain its iconic legacy.

More details on the Boomslang’s release will come as 2025 approaches, but for now, that’s all from RazerCon 2024! I’ll be trying to get my hands on the Razer Freyja – it’s something out of a dream! I just hope I can before they’re all sold out… If you’re antsy to find out more, you can head to the Razer website, or find out more from their Instagram
