Minion Madness is Taking Over: Universal Studios Singapore is set to open Minion Land in 2025!

Fans of the adorable, dungary-clad, yellow-tinted creatures called Minions, assemble! After years of teasing, you can finally say bello to Universal Studios Singapore (USS) and Illumination’s new Minion Land in 2025!

Inspired by the beloved Despicable Me and Minions franchise, the new immersive land will feature multiple rides, including a world-first original ride exclusive to Universal Studios Singapore and a variety of themed retail and dining experiences.

Are you ready to go bananas over the world of Despicable Me? Then allow me to give you a rundown on everything you can expect to see when Minion Land finally opens its doors to the public next year.

Minion Marketplace

The Minions are known to wear multiple hats in the movies, and in Minion Marketplace, they have found unique ways to express themselves through colourful storefronts! Minion Marketplace is your one-stop shop for all things Minions, including sweet treats and merchandise.

USS Minion Land: Gru’s Neighbourhood

At Sweet Surrender, a giant jawbreaker vending machine and mischievous Minions decorate the candy-themed store. Shop a diverse range of Minion-themed apparel, including plush toys, homeware, confections, and other fun souvenirs!

Then, at Pop Store, the Minions put their swagger on, as they are infused with modern design and street art style. The Pop Store is where you can get the latest fashion items and the trendiest styles with a Minion twist.

Finally, head down to the Fun Store, where you’ll be bombarded with accessories and toys galore. This toy store is run by the Minions themselves!

Gru’s Neighbourhood

Just a stone’s throw away from Minion Marketplace is Gru’s Neighbourhood, where the former supervillain resides with his family. Under their home lies his Lab and loyal Minions squad, who are starting to take over the streets!

Feel as though you’re in the real Despicable Me film at Gru’s iconic home!

This is where you can anticipate the wildly popular Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction, so this is not to be missed! What can you expect at Despicable Me Minion Mayhem? Well, it’s an immersive motion simulator ride that takes you on a ride full of twists and turns through Gru’s laboratory as you are transformed into Minions.

Personally, I’ve experienced this ride in Universal Studios Japan! I had entered the ride with zero expectations, smugly thinking that the ride was catered towards the kids, meaning I would be completely unphased. But boy, was I proven wrong almost instantly as soon as my butt sat on the seat.

This ride is perfect for family fun, and without spoiling anything, I guarantee you’ll feel the adrenaline rush once the ride’s over!

Super Silly Fun Land

If you’re not over the adrenaline rush, keep the fun times going at Super Silly Fun Land right across the street from Minion Marketplace and Gru’s Neighbourhood!

This seaside carnival might ring a bell for avid Despicable Me watchers as this was where Gru and the girls had their momentous Fun Day made even more joyful by the Minions’ mischief! Now, you can enjoy Super Silly Fun Land in person instead of through the screen.

Recreate a scene or two from the Despicable Me films at Super Silly Fun Land

Here, have a blast playing fun games, taking on exhilarating rides, and indulging in delicious themed food just like you would at a real carnival, all with a stunning view of the lagoon.

Next up is what you’ve been waiting for. Singapore finally has something we can brag about that no one else has, and that my friends, is Buggle Boogie, the first-ever Minion dance party-themed carousel! On this whimsical and colourful ride helmed by DJ Carl, hop on a fleet of space bugs and silly creatures, before boogieing to popular songs remixed by the banana-loving creatures.

Get your boogie on at Buggle Boogie!

While I can’t say what this ride is like as it’s not open to the public yet, this ride looks great for families; leaning more towards the much chiller side of all the rides in this land.

Then, head to Silly Swirly, where you’ll be taking off in uniquely styled ride vehicles that will have you spinning and soaring through the air whilst offering views of Super Silly Fun Land and the lagoon!

Once you’ve completed the rides, you can have a go at the games, including Space Killer, which is modelled after the “Super Silly Space Killer” arcade game in Despicable Me. Like in the film, you’ll be challenged to beat the odds to win prizes like Fluffy, Agnes’ plush unicorn that Gru won for her!

Unfortunately, you can’t cheat your way to victory as Gru did by demolishing the booth with his Big Blaster Cannon. But I’m sure with enough determination and accuracy, you’ll be shouting, “It’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!” when victory is yours!

Fret not if you’re unsuccessful in Space Killer. Try your hand once more at another game called Ba-Na-Na CaBaNa. This game has already made its debut in other Universal Studios Parks like Japan’s, but now you’ll get to play it here in Singapore!

Although it hasn’t been announced if Singapore’s version of Ba-Na-Na CaBaNa will be identical to Japan’s, what they can promise is that the game is flippin’ bananas. You’ll also be able to attempt to earn a reward from the Minions.

After a long day of rides and games, a tasty snack sounds like a good idea so you can make your way to Pop-A-Nana! Popcorn has never been this fun until Pop-A-Nana, a snack kiosk which will sell Minion-inspired popcorn flavours.

If you need a heavier meal instead, you can check out Super Hungry Food Stand. This brand-new restaurant is another thing to cheer for, as it’s also unique to Universal Studios Singapore, just like Buggle Boogie!

Super Hungry Food Stand is a larger-than-film version of the waterfront snack stand from Despicable Me, the perfect place to end your day at Minion Land.
