It’s 2012, and the first Legoland theme park in Asia, LEGOLAND Malaysia, has opened its doors to the world. As a LEGO-obsessed 7-year-old, I was over the moon—finally, there was another nearby theme park aside from Universal Studios Singapore! I practically dragged my family there for a staycation at the LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, and for a day, I was a kid in the candy store, except it was LEGO-themed games and rides.
More than 10 years later, this memory still lingers in my mind, which makes me wonder what the park has in store for visitors today. Well, good news if you’re headed to LEGOLAND Malaysia from July to August! From now until 4 August 2024, LEGOLAND Malaysia is bringing back its famous Splash Carnival!
Dive into a wave of fun as Splash Carnival promises an ultimate extravaganza at the iconic LEGOLAND Water Park with thrilling water games, action-packed activities, entertainment, and more. So get ready to have a whale of a time, as I’ll be sharing what to expect at this year’s Splash Carnival!
Activities and Games
At Splash Carnival, the fun never stops with 9 games and activities you can choose from! For the first activity, you can try your hand at building a boat through the LEGO Boat Race. Here, you’ll be challenged to craft your own boat and pit your boat against others in an epic race to see whose boat is the fastest!
After the boat race, if you’re a volleyball player yourself, head over to Water Volleyball! If you thought volleyball was already exciting enough, then water volleyball will definitely be exhilarating tenfold. So spike your way to victory whilst cooling off during water volleyball!
Can’t get enough of sporty fun? Then showcase your best footwork at Beach Soccer in a friendly beach soccer penalty challenge. In Beach Soccer, you can kick up some fun as you attempt to score goals on the golden sand.
If you aren’t into sports, Splash Carnival has more games that are just as fun! These next four different games are a test of precision and accuracy, so do you think you’ve got what it takes?
First up, we’ve got Aqua Dunk. Does it sound just like a carnival game you might be familiar with? Cause that’s exactly what it is! At Aqua Dunk, LEGOLAND’s mighty staff’s fate is in your hands as you’ll have to give your best shot to dunk them into the refreshing water!
The next game to test your aim is Shoot-The-Hoops. Just like the basketball hooping game you can find at your local arcades, you can become a hooping master as you take your shots and attempt to score a basket at Shoot-The-Hoops!
Splash Fun Station and Splash & Score Showdown, add other ways to take aim and fire! For Splash Fun Station, you’ll aim to take down just one target, but if you’re up for a challenge, you can try Splash & Score Showdown, where you have to take your shot and see how many targets you can down!
Once you’ve finished channelling your inner sharpshooters at these target-hitting games, a game you can try on the chiller side is Limbo Rock! As the name suggests, challenge yourself to see how low you can get under the bar at the limbo. My lousy back will probably be screaming at me if I were to try this, so if you’re as bendy as a willow, you’ll likely have a better chance than me to smash this game out of the park!
But if you’re feeling a little lazy, there are other ways to have just as much fun at Splash Carnival. Enter Sandbox Fun, where you can let your imagination run wild as you create your own sandcastles, dig tunnels, and more!
Another simple game you can play — which also allows you to take home your Splash Carnival memories — is Strike A Pose! All you have to do is keep your balance and hold your poses for the ultimate Splash Carnival snapshot on the giant inflatable banana boat!
Finally, to make your journey around the water park to play these games worthwhile, you can also participate in Beach Ball Fun! In this unique treasure-hunting style game, 8 hidden LEGO beach balls are scattered around the water park. If you succeed in finding them, you can redeem them for exciting prizes!
Live Shows
Aside from the tidal wave of games and activities, LEGOLAND Malaysia is bringing the Hallyu wave to Malaysia with an exceptional guest performance by rising Korean star Han Byul!
For just one day on 13 July 2024, the heartthrob will exclusively serenade guests live with his chart-topping hits! Han Byul is best known for participating in singing competitions in Malaysia, such as becoming the first foreign champion of Big Stage Season 2 and finishing third place in The Masked Singer Malaysia Season 3.
If you missed out on seeing Han Byul live in action, don’t worry, as there are other amazing live shows that are not to be missed! Every day during Splash Carnival, there’ll be a DJ Beach Party where you can groove to the beats with Splash Carnival’s very own live DJ at the LEGO Wave Pool Stage!
To keep the party going, you can then dive into an energetic pool dance session at Aqua Zumba. Zumba is a fun and effective dance workout, so you can get the best of both worlds by doing cardio whilst showing off your best moves!
Han Byul isn’t the only star you can meet during the event! Splash Carnival has its very own Splash Carnival stars, including Surfer, Mariachi Man, Pirate Captain, and Stilt Walker, who will be holding meet-and-greets in different areas of the park.
The meet-and-greets aren’t the only times to see Surfer, Mariachi Man, and Pirate Captain. You can splash and dance with Mariachi Man and Pirate Captain at Splash Bash or catch the wave and groove with Surfer at Surf’s Up!
Finally, no carnival is complete without a parade! Over at the Parade Splash Carnival All Stars, you can witness the Splash Carnival All Stars lead this colourful parade which will be a weekend special during the event.
