Amazon Prime Day on the Go: A Prelude to Amazon’s Longest Shopping Extravaganza Yet!

I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m an online shopping addict. With the allure of flash sales, exclusive discounts, and the convenience of having everything delivered right to my doorstep, it’s a habit I indulge in more than I’d like to confess. And it appears that my obsession will reach new heights this year with Amazon Prime Day! For all my fellow shopaholics, you’ll be happy to know that this year’s Amazon Prime Day will take place for 5 days from 16 July to 21 July 2024

But the party starts right now! In the leadup to what is the longest Amazon Prime Day ever, the brand is spreading the joy all around. In true Amazon fashion, they’re delivering the fun and excitement straight to us with Amazon Prime Day on the Go!

This was my first time experiencing Amazon Prime Day on the Go, so I had no idea what to expect. But for a shopping addict like myself, I just couldn’t resist the siren’s call that was Amazon Prime Day.

Opening Festivities

Amazon Prime Day on the Go: A Prelude to Amazon's Longest Shopping Extravaganza Yet!: Opening Festivities
The energy was just electric!

The event was held on the first level of Suntec City, right outside Foot Locker. As soon as I entered the venue, the air buzzed with a rhythmic beat, and the floor started to shake, but I couldn’t find the source of the sudden shift in the atmosphere. Naturally, I was caught off guard. Were the Shopping Gods expressing their dismay at my lack of self-control? Was I about to be punished?

That’s when I followed the crowd and zeroed in on the long escalator descending from the higher levels. Slowly making their way down were members of a percussion group, their powerful beats filling the air with energy. They marched through the crowd, leaving behind a contagion of infectious good vibes.

When they reached the front of the venue, they were joined by dhol drummers and kompang players. The blend of their beats harmonised beautifully, creating a symphony that echoed through the venue and captivated everyone. Their performance was followed by a majestic lion and dragon dance. The mythical creatures weaved their way around the crowd, enthralling everyone with their graceful movements.

I’ve been to my fair share of events, but none have had an opening ceremony as wholesome as this. All the performances really set the stage for the event and left us all buzzing for more!

Games and Prizes

Amazon Prime Day on the Go: A Prelude to Amazon's Longest Shopping Extravaganza Yet!: Games and Prizes
Everyone’s a winner at Amazon Prime Day on the Go!

Now, let’s move on to the main event of the day: the games. The games are tucked into the Amazon Prime Day on the Go roving truck, which will be parked at Suntec City for a few days before heading to Bugis+. Would it really be Amazon if they didn’t deliver the joy to everyone? Of course not!

To join in the fun, present your Amazon.sg app to a staff member in exchange for an activity card, and then let the fun begin! The best part? Only one family member has to show the app for the whole family to participate.

Of course, we had to try our hand at the games before we left to share the experience with you. So (without spoiling the fun) here’s what you can expect from the roving truck:

  • Big Deals Family: The game is relatively simple. You’ll be handed a deck of cards, each embellished with a member of a family (Father, Mother, Daughter, etc.). All you have to do is remember what item each family member wants to buy and match the right card to the correct item within the time limit. Easy, right?
  • It’s Prime Time: This one is up your alley for all my Prime Movie subscribers! All you have to do is guess the movie based on the icons that pop up on the screen. I did feel a bit disadvantaged because I don’t use Prime Movie, but I still managed to dominate the game courtesy of my friends who do.
  • Know Your Perks: Amazon is good at spoiling us, and they want us to know it. For this game, you only have to watch a simple video and catch at least three Amazon.sg Prime benefits.

And just like that, you’ve filled up your activity card and unlocked the perks! Upon completing the activities, present your card and redeem free treats such as Teh Tarik or ice cream. You can even redeem a special gift from Amazon to you (while stocks last)!

Amazon Prime Day on the Go: A Prelude to Amazon's Longest Shopping Extravaganza Yet!: Ee Shaun
Stand a chance to get your gift personalised by the talented artist behind the illustrations you see, Ee Shaun!

If you want a customised gift by local artist Ee Shaun, who illustrated the print of the roving truck, make your way down to Bugis+ on 13 and 14 July 2024 from 6pm to 8pm! He asked us what we wanted illustrated on our gift, and no matter how outlandish the request was, he managed to conjure it up in a matter of seconds—it was totally worth it!

Catch Amazon Prime Day on the Go!

If there’s one thing I learned today, it’s that Amazon loves to spoil us! Don’t forget that this is purely just the lead-up to the main event: Amazon Prime Day. Keep your eyes peeled for our list of amazing deals you can’t miss out on because we believe that good things must be shared. And it’d be a sin to gatekeep shopping deals from one shopaholic to another.

Whether you’re looking for a fun activity to do as a family, or you need a temporary cure to satiate your Amazon needs, Amazon Prime Day on the Go promises to bring the celebration to you! So, be on the lookout for more information about this heaven on wheels, by checking out the official Amazon website!
