From its awe-inspiring debut in Akihabara, Naruto: The Gallery is now venturing beyond Japan for the first time, exclusively at Universal Studios Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa. This limited-time event, running from 28 March 2024 to 30 June 2024, promises a thrilling immersion into the world of Naruto with its unique collection of artworks, storyboards, and screenings. Don’t miss this chance to unleash your inner shinobi!
Highlights of Naruto: The Gallery’s exhibitions
You’ve probably already read the manga and re-watched episodes from the anime too many times to count. Still, Naruto: The Gallery brings new insight into the world of Naruto beyond what the books and TV series cover. As a fan of Naruto, this isn’t to be missed!
Held at Soundstage 28, the gallery follows the adventures of Naruto and Team 7, from their humble beginnings in trying to pass Kakashi’s test, to their navigation through the iconic Chunin Exam arc. While you explore the series’ unforgettable moments, you can also spot sections called Animation Collaboration, which are screens scattered around the gallery displaying video works done by five up-and-coming Japanese animation artists interpreting iconic scenes of Naruto. These video works not only allow you to rewatch the anime series but also reimagine what the show could have been in new interpretations and art styles.
Just when it seems like it couldn’t be any more exciting, like a choose-your-own-adventure, one gallery section diverges into two paths. You can take either Naruto’s path or that of his long-time rival Sasuke, as they separate to their own ways and continue to relive the series before leading to a room exclusively covering the Fourth Great Ninja War. This interactive element allows you to be a part of the Naruto universe, making the experience even more engaging and immersive!
Another one of the highlights of Naruto: The Gallery is the stunning white diorama depicting Konohagakure (also known as the Hidden Leaf Village). Remember that famous visual with Pain ominously overlooking the village while floating in the sky? Now’s your chance to feel you are Pain yourself, but this time, no evil intentions from us!
Not only can you try your hand at spotting the iconic locations from the series, but now you can view how the artists bring them to life through the sketches displayed on the wall behind the diorama.
Another major highlight is the seven-minute screening of Naruto’s battle against Kaguya in a multi-screen theatre. It’s an epic showpiece near the end of the show that sees the original Team 7 reuniting together again after so long to fight this great threat, but now you get to see it in a whole new way, with screens enveloping you all around for the most immersive of experiences!
Sit back and relax as you relive the battle’s hype-inducing moments as you get to see all of the team’s iconic jutsus at play in what is undoubtedly a seminal point of the series.
Exclusive Merchandise and Artist Collaborations
But of course, what fan would leave an exhibition without some merch? Naruto: The Gallery ends with a merch store, featuring all sorts of goodies that you can take back home
These official merchandise items, specially curated by the gallery, include a 20th-anniversary collection of tin badges, tote bags, Furoshiki (wrapping cloths), and more. They are nice keepsakes to take home. Additionally, they are exclusive to the exhibition, so get your hands on them before it’s too late! But be warned, the range of merchandise is so tempting that you might find it hard to resist, and you might end up burning a hole in your pocket!
Finally, before you leave, check out the Artist Collaboration area, which features Naruto-inspired artworks and clothing made by artists Amos Ananda, Jahan Loh, and Josiah Chua. If you don’t know who they are, one of the artists featured, Amos Ananda, is the founder of a self-titled elevated menswear and unisex high streetwear label that has even made its international debut at Paris Men’s Fashion Week. To top it off, he has worked with big names such as Tiger Beer and Volkswagen too!
His work, titled “Ninja Jacket”, was inspired by the power of faith and Naruto’s determination not to give up on his dreams, which can be found in the design’s thoughtful use of scenes from Naruto’s battles. Unfortunately, you can’t take home the clothes for yourself, but seeing the pieces up close is just as satisfying.
Finally, what’s an exhibition visit without capturing some photos? Towards the end of the exhibition, you can have fun posing with life-size figurines of the Naruto characters at the photo booths and maybe reenact scenes from Naruto yourself!
Ramen and Burgers at Naruto: The Gallery Café
A walk through the gallery is surely enough to make anyone hungry for more than just more Naruto, so why not satisfy both cravings?
Located at KT’s Grill, Naruto: The Gallery Café boasts a menu inspired by the anime series! Choose from a variety of iconic dishes, including Naruto’s favourite Ichiraku Ramen, Sakura Blossom Burgers featuring pink burger buns, and cleverly designed Naruto fries that imitate Naruto’s notable spiky, yellow hair.
Once you’ve tucked into the delicious menu, quench your thirst with Naruto Punch, a selection of glowing, brightly coloured drinks with LED lights that are both refreshing and Insta-worthy.
