“Robot vacuum machines all look the same.” Or are they? The ECOVACS DEEBOT X2 OMNI has an unconventional design compared to other robot vacuums, but it has a purpose.
I caught this new robot vacuum by ECOVACS in person at its unveiling, with the company’s Regional Manager, Chris Ma, showcasing its features.
Unique Design
Just recently launched, the robot vacuum by ECOVACS sports a unique squarish design. And while it is unlike most of its other contemporaries, it still very much looks like a robot vacuum cleaner — sleeker actually, if I may add.
The offbeat design was made to enhance the cleaning of edged and hard-to-reach areas within homes. It works alongside the built-in edge detection sensors, front roller brush with expanded width, and outstretched mopping mats to further increase its cleaning coverage, with the company touting edge coverage as high as 99.77% and a 19% increase in cleaning efficiency.
The new shape for the ECOVACS DEEBOT X2 OMNI also grants it a thinner, more low-profile design, enabling it to glide underneath all furniture, like sofas and beds, more easily to clean these less maintained areas. Indeed, the device does look noticeably smaller than other robot vacuum cleaners, which should allow it to fit into more places with low reach.
The new OMNI station also uses a slimmer design, which now measures a sleeker 394 mm x 527.5 mm x 443.73 mm in dimension — potentially saving space inside the house.
Cleaning Features
In terms of cleaning performance, the ECOVACS DEEBOT X2 OMNI has a suction power of up to 8000Pa as one of its highlight features, equipped to help it effectively handle crevice dusting and carpet cleaning.
Additionally, the robot vacuum also mops floors using its OZMO Turbo 2.0 Rotating Mopping System. The tech provides consistent pressure to the floor for deep cleaning and combines with the chenille fabric mop to help tackle stubborn stains. The device will also auto-lift the mop 15mm whenever it detects carpets during cleaning, ensuring there isn’t any cross-contamination with the dirty mops. ECOVACS tells me that the 15mm mop-lift is among the highest available for any robot vacuum.
Once you set it up, the device will map out your home and create an intuitive 3D map. From here, you can set up cleaning routines or instruct it to clean specific areas, which the robot vacuum can accurately identify. The YIKO 2.0 voice assistant also enables various voice control scenarios, like conversations with numerous commands, offline natural language processing, remote control, cleaning schedules, task adjustments, and more.
When it goes on its cleaning runs, the DEEBOT X2 OMNI uses its built-in LiDAR sensor to navigate and avoid obstacles — detecting objects as far as 10m away. The AIVI 3D 2.0 AI advancement also aids the machine in identifying and adapting to a specific environment to reduce the need for additional adjustments and user intervention.
And for those with large homes, the built-in 6400mAh lithium battery brings a longer battery life, ensuring uninterrupted cleaning sessions and more consistent performance.
Easier Maintenance
Robot vacuums are already known for how convenient they can be for cleaning homes, but ECOVACS has further built the DEEBOT X2 OMNI to give users even more freedom.
With the help of the all-in-one OMNI station, maintenance is kept to a minimum. The station helps with emptying filled dust bins, but it also does so for the dirty water; refilling the tank with clean water afterwards.
When the device returns to the station, it also cleans the mopping pads with a 55°C hot water mop washing function, getting it ready ahead of its next cleaning cycle and removing the need for users to clean the pads after every mopping routine manually.
Maintaining the station itself has been made easier as well. There’s a detachable cleaning sink and bottom plate components to simplify cleaning — a representative took just a couple of seconds to pull it out to demonstrate the ease of removal.
ECOVACS’ new robot vacuum cleaner shows quite the evolution from when robot vacuums emerged. We’ll have to see if the new design becomes the new standard for the company and the rest of the competition.
The ECOVACS DEEBOT X2 OMNI is available now for S$1,699 at COURTS and ECOVACS official online stores on Lazada and Shopee.
