Singapore Festival of Football brings a week of top football action in June 2023

Football fans in Singapore were treated to a glimpse of Premier League action last year when Liverpool and Crystal Palace went head to head for the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022. This year, they’ll get to experience some enticing European clashes as the Singapore Festival of Football arrives in the country.

Happening from 26 July to 2 August 2023, the Singapore Festival of Football will be a week-long football spectacle as top teams from around the globe convene in the country to prepare for the upcoming 2023/2024 season.

Liverpool FC will return for a second straight year, with fellow English teams Leicester City FC and Tottenham Hotspur joining them in Singapore. Meanwhile, Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich and Italian powerhouse AS Roma are the other European clubs that will be making an appearance on the pitches of the National Stadium.

Commemorating the launch of the event were former players who arrived in Singapore to represent their teams — football legends John Barnes (Liverpool FC), Emile Heskey (Leicester City FC), Giovane Elber (FC Bayern Munich), Gary Mabbutt (Tottenham Hotspur), and Marco Cassetti (AS Roma).

Three blockbuster matches make up the exciting lineup for the Singapore Festival of Football. First, Tottenham Hotspur will face AS Roma, which will see Roma boss Jose Mourinho return to the dugout against his former club. Next, Liverpool FC will come up against Leicester City FC for a chance at lifting the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy again. Finally, the last match will see Liverpool again, this time against FC Bayern Munich — reuniting former Reds player Sadio Mane who left at the start of this season.

Besides the matches, fans can also look forward to the Football Fans Interactive Festival Village, where many entertaining offerings await, such as engagement activities and food and beverage options. The village is open to the public on Open Training and Match Days as well as on 1 Aug, a day before the final match.

For fans who can’t wait for the new season to see Premier League and European action, the Singapore Festival of Football brings the excitement closer to them. So be sure not to miss out!
