Elevate the joy of Lunar New Year with the Bay Spring Carnival

Chinese New Year has nearly begun, another annual season gathering of families, where you may or may not be bombarded by intrusive questions from aunties and uncles and faced with the persistence of children for Ang Baos.

If you’re on the hunt for a quick respite from the Lunar New Year buzz, while still having fun with your loved ones, the Bay Spring Carnival is the place to be! Also, if you were tempted to make your way to an Uncle Ringo Carnival after reading our previous article, here’s your chance!

Organised by The Show Master, the Bay Spring Carnival will be running over the next 3 weeks, from 13 January to 29 January 2023 @ The Bayfront Event Space. The Carnival opens its doors from 4 pm to 10 pm on weekdays and 1 pm to 10.30 pm on weekends. On Chinese New Year’s Eve, Day 1, and Day 2 (Chu-Yi and Chu-Er), you can play to your heart’s content with the carnival’s extended hours from 1 pm to 1 pm!

In lieu of the festive season, The Show Master presents a rejuvenated festive playground with an enchanting Cherry Blossom Garden blooming with fairy lights and complemented by illuminated inflatables to usher in the Year of the Rabbit. A visual spectacle, be sure to bring your cameras and photography A-game to catch some Insta-worthy pictures. Here are some highlights of the carnival rides, performances and snacks you can look forward to!

The Bay Spring Carnival can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. Rides like the Meteorite — Uncle Ringo’s signature ride, will surely satisfy the adrenaline rush that thrillseekers crave, while younger folks can relish in the classics like Ring Toss, Bumper Car and Red Swing.

In fact, there is also a white carousel in the heart of the carnival, adding its own rustic charm to the vibrant space. The warm yellow lights against a white carousel makes for dreamy, Instagrammable pictures.

Disneyland or Bay Spring Carnival? – We can’t spot the difference!

Beyond just the games, keep your eyes peeled for lion dance performances, which are sure to be a hit with the family! Inspired by the Lunar New Year Spirit, the carnival will have the Lion Dance performance at 6 PM on selected dates – 13, 14, 15, 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29 January.

What really sets the mood, however, are the daily performances at the carnival. You can catch rising local talents – Jeff Ng, Jason Yu, and veteran guzheng artist, Neo Sek Koon – performing at the Bay Spring Carnival! Performing their rendition of recognisable English pop and Mandopop tunes, they set a romantic, upbeat atmosphere. Swaying to ‘As it Was’ on a dreamy night at a Carnival sounds like something straight out of a rom-com, perfect for your date!

Finally, there’s no way you can leave a carnival without indulging yourself in mouthwatering festive treats! Six curated food vendors at Bay Spring Carnival include Kin Hoi’s booth for seafood, and Karubi’s booth selling their crowd’s favourite Wagyu Beef Bowl.

And if you are craving dessert, or a treat for your little ones, the White Rabbit, Magnum and Ben and Jerry’s booth will surely satiate your sweet tooth.
