Back with a BANG! MPL SG kicks off Season 4

The recent rise in popularity of mobile-based esports titles, such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), has seen an increase in spectatorship of such titles. If you too are an avid follower of the game, look no further because the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Singapore (MPL SG) is kicking off its 4th season!

MPL SG is Mobile Legends’ official professional league, which saw a peak viewership of over 15,000 people last season. In that season, seven teams competed, with RSG SG triumphing in the Grand Finals, edging out EVOS Singapore with a 4-1 win.

The excitement begins again with Season 4, now having eight teams vying for the MPL SG title. The Regular Season starts on 3 September and lasts till 25 September, where a best-of-three (Bo3) tournament format will be held offline at Zenway Studios.

The league kicks off with Zion Esports taking on Team Flash on 3 September from 10am to 1pm, and week 1 will end with Slate Esports taking on Zion Esports on 4 September from 7pm to 10pm, so mark your calendars, so you don’t miss a game!

The schedule for week 1 of MPL SG

League standings from the Regular Season will determine the teams’ placement in the double-elimination playoffs held from 7 to 9 October. They will compete for top-dog status and the lion’s share of the S$100,000 prize pool.

Winning Season 4 will also enable the team to qualify for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship (M4) held in Jakarta, Indonesia, in early January 2023. With 16 of the world’s best MLBB teams competing at M4 and an US$800,000 prize pool up for grabs, entering it will surely be an exciting prospect for the champions.

Comprised of MPL veterans – Lolsie, Diablo, 505, babycakes, BRAYYY, CS, Roy, and Jasonn –  RSG SG will no doubt be setting out to retain their title for this season. Still, they will see fierce competition from the seven other teams.

Slate Esports, formerly EVOS SG, who, despite the heavy 1-4 defeat to RSG SG in Season 3’s finals, has revamped and are back stronger than ever, with their roster of Adammir, Gear, Seilah, FMM and JPL looking to conquer the competition this season.

Meanwhile, Stellark SG has acquired Team Oldman, allowing them to compete with a roster of Chu, OhDeerBambi, SynC, SmellyCat and Fossa. These former players from EMERGE Esports and RSG SG are looking to show the other teams that their veteran status is not just for show.

Dark horses Team EVIL, who took the competition by storm in Season 3, are looking to replicate their strong form into the new season with their new roster – JsisJejsj, PoWerFuL, melon, Coconut and carrot, and aim for the top this season.

Zion Esports, who finished at a highly respectable standing of 5th in the playoffs last season with the help of Pootato, will be aiming to go above and beyond this time round with the help of SUPERGIRL amongst their ranks.
