gamescom has grown to be a premier place for video games, garnering some of the most notable developers in the industry and attracting a large number of fans both online and for the physical convention. The event experience has thus far been confined towards Europe and other parts of the West, but now Asia has a chance to join in with its first satellite event — gamescom asia 2021.
As the prelude to next year’s gamescom in Germany, gamescom asia 2021 is set to be a hybrid event that both industry players and fans can participate in. Beginning from 14 October and lasting to 17 October, the event will be divided into two zones: Trade and Entertainment.
The Trade Zone is both a digital and in-person affair, with the physical event taking place in Singapore’s Suntec Convention Centre. Industry players can look forward to networking with fellow colleagues within the gaming space and participate in several panels that will be at the conference.
A whole host of prominent international speakers from studios like That’s No Moon, Cygames, Square Enix, and miHoYo, among others, will be around to share valuable aspects like game publishing, development and the future growth of the video games sector in Asia and beyond.
The Entertainment Zone will be going exclusively virtual, allowing millions of fans around Southeast Asia the opportunity to participate in the festivities. It all kicks off at 9pm SG time on 15 October with gamescom asia PRIMETIME, where you can expect game premieres, new trailers and a tease of the programs under gamescom asia STUDIO.
gamescom asia STUDIO will occur over the last two days of the event, and it will contain segments showcasing interviews, development updates, demos, and even possibly content drops as well. The entire event will conclude with an indie award segment conducted by the Singapore Games Association.
The Trade Zone and Conference are now opening up registration for tickets which you can purchase on the official page. Fans can meanwhile catch the Entertainment Zone for free. Updates for the event will be rolled out on the gamescom asia Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages as it gets closer to launch.
