Lunar New Year has always been about getting together with family and friends to catch up and have fun ahead of the new year, and gaming can of course, be counted as one of its activities. Now, you can get into the spirit and do it uniquely with PlayStation Asia’s Playful Festival!
A newly launched event by PlayStation Asia, it not only consists of sales and discounts for PlayStation products, but also includes a new PlayStation community campaign — the ‘Playful Festival Challenge’.
It is all about getting together as a community to achieve goals by either playing games or just simply using the entertainment apps on your PlayStation console. And if a goal is met, you get rewarded with prizes!
Taking part is easy, simply sign in to your PlayStation Network (PSN) account to register yourself for the challenge from 3 to 11 February; that’s it! Tracking for the challenges begins from 12 February and lasts until 5 March, and accounts from the following regions are eligible to participate: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
There are three goals to reach. The first is to garner 180,000 hours of usage on the entertainment apps on your game console. These include apps like YouTube, Netflix and Twitch. Once it is achieved, you’ll be able to get a unique Playful Festival Avatar to don for your account.
The second goal is to accrue 880,000 gameplay hours of local multiplayer in total, of which the each region’s top 50 players who have the longest amount of hours will receive a 12-month PS Plus subscription!
Finally, the last community goal requires an accumulated 108,000 hours worth of online multiplayer gameplay. Reaching that milestone grants the top 2 players in with the longest hours in each region a PS Store Money Voucher valued at S$1,360.
That makes up the Community Challenge in Playful Festival Challenge’, but running alongside that is the Team Challenge as well!
Popular personalities across Asia like cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao from the Philippines and Singapore’s own Titan Gamers will be taking part to help achieve the community goals. Help support them by selecting to join up with your favourite team, and your gameplay hours will get tracked as part of the team’s score.
If you are one of the top 20 players in the winning team, you will get rewarded with a unique PlayStation-designed 2-way Backpack, while players from the runner-up and second runner-up teams get a Tough Case and a S$40 PS Store Money Voucher respectively.
And if you want to join in the fun but don’t currently have games to play, massive discounts are happening for big games like Ghost of Tsushima and FIFA 21 right now till 17 February, so now you can get ready to tackle the challenges!
