Plant-based meat has been a growing obsession among many, for its apparent benefits to our biodiversity, and even for our health. OmniMeat is a well-known name for its plant-based meats.
But have you heard of plant-based luncheon meat?
Ladies and gents, I present to you, the OmniMeat Luncheon. It’s the world’s first-ever luncheon meat made from plants, and it is a proud creation of OmniFood and its parent organisation, Green Monday Group.
I had the honour to try out their luncheon meat in various dishes, and if I were to summarise the experience in five words, they would be, ‘It tastes like real meat’. To me, that is the ultimate, million-dollar question that had to be answered – “Does it taste like actual meat?” Well, you heard it here.
This luncheon meat is a unique blend of plant-based proteins that creates this parallel universe of plant-based meats, while still tasting and smelling much like their meat counterparts. This creation opens up a door to a whole new world of ethical meat for vegans, vegetarians, and pescatarians.
Indeed, a massive milestone in food technology, this invention is a result of years of research and development. The first OmniFood item, the OmniMeat Mince, was launched in April 2018, and since then, the company has come a long way.
OmniMeat Luncheon launched a partnership with McDonald’s Hong Kong and Macau. Since then, OmniMeat’s two new products, Luncheon and Strip, are now available for purchase at selected NTUC FairPrice supermarkets, other major supermarkets, and Redmart.
But hold your horses, there’s more!
The award-winning local F&B group, and the classic favourite of many Singaporeans, COLLIN’S will also be introducing OmniMeat-centred meals to their menu across its 11 restaurants in Singapore.
