COVID-19 has been particularly testing for Singapore, and we applaud the efforts of our many brave healthcare workers fighting the pandemic. Nonetheless, we would also like to take the time to recognise our men and women in the Singapore Civil Defence Force and Singapore Police Force – many of whom have been working just as tirelessly to ensure Singapore’s safety and security.
So, with the return of the HomeTeamNS REAL® (Regular Exercise, Active Lifestyle) Run, this year’s race is set to commemorate their efforts and launch an all-new virtual run for their 24th edition.
This year’s theme is “24/7”, and that means for the first time ever: participants can complete the race at their own pace, time and running route anywhere in Singapore. The run will take place between the period of 24 July to 3 October 2020; ensuring that there is ample opportunity for everyone to participate.
Participation requires runners to select their desired distance — 5 KM, 15 KM and 24 KM — and then use a GPS-based running app to track their results; showing the total distance of the run and the time taken, or the pace of the run. Usage of personal GPS-based running gadgets and tracking apps is also permitted, to allow for greater participation.
After completing the run, participants will need to provide a screenshot of the results, that must be taken during the event period. In which, they will receive an exclusive HomeTeamNS reusable face mask to wear; equipped with an inner filter slot and bearing the proud emblem of this year’s theme; reusable for up to 50 washes.
The HomeTeamNS REAL® Run is available to register starting today (24 July), and registration lasts till 4 September 2020. Both HomeTeamNS members and members of the public aged 18 years and above can participate in the run, with a registration fee of $10.90 for members and $13.90 for the public, regardless of the race distance.
“As we gradually recover from the effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic, safety remains our top priority, and we continue to play our part in maintaining social distancing. The success of last year’s Virtual Lifesavers Run gives us confidence that the shift to a fully virtual run this year, is the right move to make,” said MAJ (NS) Su Caizheng, Chairman of the HomeTeamNS REAL® Run Organising Committee.
