Campus Legends returns for a second season

Campus Legends in 2019 was a resounding success, pulling in over 95,000 unique viewers during its run last year. That success has meant that it returns for a second season; with the inter-tertiary competition beginning on 3 July and lasting till 9 August.

It brings two of the most popular esports titles in Singapore – League of Legends and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang – as the game titles to compete in. Prizes are up for grabs while you and your team represent your school in an attempt to attain top-dog status among the rest!

Season 2 will begin with qualifying rounds between Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) on 3 July, where the opportunity for student teams to represent their respective schools will first be contested. From there, the winners from the qualifiers will be placed to compete in a group stage to confirm a place in the grand finals of the competition. These matches will be specially scheduled to avoid the usual school hours and examination periods.

The competition itself has been re-adapted to an online format as Singapore continues with its COVID-19 efforts, to allow all students to participate fully while keeping their safety and well-being in mind.

Campus Legends is also supporting the Singapore Esports Association’s #SGPlaysTogether campaign in addition to organiser SCOGA’s (Singapore Cybersports & Online Gaming Association) efforts to support the community, such as providing various engagement programmes for nearly 1,000 students during the circuit breaker period and providing students with urgent needs with laptop devices for home-based learning.

“It’s really humbling to know that SCOGA can make a difference, not only to local esports through our various programmes, but also to other aspects of Singaporeans’ lives, through the various initiatives the team has stepped up to implement in the past few months and especially during the circuit breaker period,” said Nicholas Khoo, Chairman of SCOGA.

Prizes are also similarly awarded in view of reinforcing the importance of education, with cash prizes will be awarded as scholarships in the form of Post-Secondary Education Account top-ups. Other prizes included come in the form of flagship products from Samsung and JBL, who are official partners of Campus Legends.
