Quick Beats: Events for July 2019

The advent of live performances is back! Our events for July features a range of concerts – from beloved K-pop artists to live covers of your favourite old school rock bands – and art acts such as Aladdin and Kurios by Cirque du Soleil.

6 July – Tiger District Party

For one night only, Tiger is inviting the community to uncage their local pride at the Tiger District Party. Singaporeans can head down to Bugis to indulge in iconic dishes prepared by our beloved local chefs. From Wanton Mee to Hakka Bowls, district favourites including Nam Seng Wanton Mee, Ah Lock Tofu and Munchi Delights will prepare signature local dishes that pair perfectly with the 20 limited-edition Tiger district bottles at the district party.

17 July – Bazzi Live in Singapore

Pop music’s latest sensation Bazzi will be performing his first ever solo concert in Singapore! A naturally-gifted performer, the 21-year-old Michigan-born Lebanese-American star learnt to play the Arabic oud and acoustic guitar at the age of six. Drawing music influences ranging from Justin Timberlake and Bryson Tiller to Duran Duran and Guns N’Roses, Bazzi said in a press release, “I hope people listen to my music and leave with that good energy. The goal is for them to feel sexy and confident as they blare it with their windows down. It’s like a trip.”

20 July – EmoFest Singapore

July Quick Beats - Fall For Hope
Fall For Hope is one of the bands performing at EmoFest Singapore.

Akin to EmoNight, EmoFest will showcase eight bands, each performing as their favourite emo scene band. This event will be a throwback for those who grew up listening to bands like Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail and My Chemical Romance. Each band will play a 40-minute set paying homage to a particular artist. In Vans Warped Tour style, the schedule will only be decided on the morning of the gig. The profits from ticket sales will be donated to charities nominated by each band.

20 July – NCT 127 WORLD TOUR ‘NEO CITY: SINGAPORE – The Origin

K-pop sensation NCT 127 will be taking Singapore by storm with their first world tour – NCT 127 WORLD TOUR ‘NEO CITY – marking the group’s first official concert tour in Singapore. The group kicked off their world tour from Seoul on 26 and 27 January earlier this year in front of a 24,000 strong crowd, where they performed popular tracks like ‘Fire Truck’, ‘Limitless’, ‘Cherry Bomb’, ‘Regular’ and ‘Simon Says’.

24 July – Russ Live in Singapore

Up-and-coming rapper, singer, songwriter and producer, Russ Vitale is set to make his first ever debut performance in Singapore! During the 2010s, Russ emerged from the Atlanta-area underground with dozens of independent singles and albums, all of which were made freely available as downloads. Inspired by 50 Cent and Eminem, as well as the classic rock he absorbed as a youngster, the New Jersey-born Russ gradually learned to play several instruments, including the guitar, which was taught to him by his father.

25 July – Death Cab for Cutie

After more than a decade, Grammy-nominated indie rock darlings, Death Cab for Cutie, return to Esplanade for their sold-out concert for one night only. Expect to be treated to familiar favourites as well as hits from their latest album Thank You For Today. Rising from a side project and becoming one of the most exciting groups to emerge from the indie rock scene in the 2000s, the band has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including ‘Best Rock Album’ for their 2015 album Kintsugi.
