Despite a last-minute change in venue, removal of a stage and the withdrawal of headliner Martin Garrix, Ultra Music Festival Singapore 2019 still managed to power through the weekend from Saturday, 8 June 2019 to Sunday, 9 June 2019.
In the days leading up to Ultra Singapore 2019, the organizers announced that the festival would be moved indoors due to “expected severe weather”. This year saw a change in venue from Ultra Park to the Sands Expo and Convention Centre. Albeit its smaller venue and downscaled stage designs and pyrotechnics, the festival was still able to rile the crowd with its flashy fanfare.
Unlike previous editions, this year’s Ultra Singapore only hosted two stages this year – the Main Stage and Resistance Stage. The Resistance Stage was a much more subdued and compact area as compared to The Main Stage, which was larger and served as a dedicated for party-goers to rave with performing DJs. The absence of Ultra Miami’s signature Worldwide Stage was eventually overlooked as festival goers got entranced by the DJs’ sets blaring from the two stages.
Martin Garrix’s withdrawal from Ultra Music Festival Singapore 2019 was an untimely coincidence, but other headliners such as Skrillex and Axwell pulled off show-stopping performances that pushed Martin Garrix’s absence into but a fleeting thought.
It’s safe to say that Ultra Singapore 2019 managed to overcome a slew of adversities plaguing its run and successfully power through the weekend. While festival-goers attempt to reel themselves back into reality, here’s a showcase of the ones we caught having a blast raving to sick beats from local and international DJs.
