Garden by the Bay’s annual Children’s Festival is back, inviting both the young and young at heart into the world of Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4. Unlike previous years, this year’s Children’s Festival may see the arrival of young adults as well — owing to its theme based on a film reminiscent to many.
Held from Saturday, 15 June to Sunday, 30 June 2019, this year’s Children’s Festival 2019 sees the Supertree Grove transform into a carnival filled with family-friendly games and activities inspired by Buzz Lightyear, Woody and the gang. Here are some of the highlights that Toy Story fans can look forward to!
Games
Jessie’s Ring Capture and Woody’s Coaster Rescue
Jessie’s Ring Capture and Woody’s Coaster Rescue is your classic ring toss and “hit the target” games, with elements of Toy Story 4 intertwined. Help Jessie get out of the sea of balloons by capturing the balloon game pieces on the game board, or help Woody find Forky by shooting down bottle targets – Forky is hidden beneath one of the bottles.
Bo Peep’s Adventure and Star Adventurer
For a more immersive experience, check out Bo Peep’s Adventure and Star Adventurer, featuring Buzz Lightyear. Bo Peep’s Adventure may seem like a beautiful symphony of colours, textures and visual treats, but don’t be fooled. A test of speed, agility and endurance; players are sent to an obstacle course, with plenty of challenges along the way.
Meanwhile, Star Adventurer could be best described as a life-sized pinball game of sorts. Players are tasked with rescuing Buzz Lightyear by bumping into as many target buttons as possible in order to recharge the batteries in Buzz’s space suit.
Visitors will also get a chance to redeem an exclusive set of Toy Story stickers! Simply collect the Children’s Festival trail book, and get a stamp when you complete each of the seven on-site activities.
Marble Run
Children’s Festival 2019 will also feature the first-ever Toy Story 4 themed marble run track in Singapore. Held once every 30 minutes, visitors can gaze up to two of the Supertrees and feast their eyes upon the 1.5 metre-wide marble as it weaves around the towering structures and travels along the 150-metre track, with reminiscent Toy Story tunes playing in the background.
Toy Story 4 Bobble Head figures
Other merchandise exclusive to Children’s Festival 2019 are the Toy Story 4 Bobble Head figurines which come in two designs – Buzz Lightyear and Woody. With a minimum spend of $5 at the carnival and an additional $7 top-up fee, visitors will be given a token to have a go at a giant capsule machine filled with Buzz and Woody Bobble Head figurines. What some visitors may not know is that the capsule machine also includes five golden balls each day, which – when won – allows the winner to launch the Marble Run at any time they wish during the Festival’s operating hours.
Toy Story 4 Garden Rhapsody
End off your Festival experience with a special Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 inspired-edition of the Garden Rhapsody, a signature light and music show by Gardens by the Bay. Held thrice each night – at 7.45pm, 8.45pm and 9.15pm daily – the new rendition of Garden Rhapsody brings visitors on an adventure filled with whimsical joy, told through the medley of music from Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story movies.
An adorable trilogy of music, light artistry and projection media, the Children’s Festival rendition of Garden Rhapsody is sure to amaze and delight every child and Toy Story fan.
