First look at the new HONOR 20 series

HONOR has officially unveiled their new line of smartphones in London on 21 May, the HONOR 20 series. This new series will comprise of their flagship smartphones, the HONOR 20 and HONOR 20 PRO, as well as a mid-tier option, the HONOR 20 LITE.

Honor 20: Available colours

The HONOR 20 and 20 PRO will have a 6.26-inch display with what the company says is the world’s smallest hole punch display cut-out, enabling a 91.6% screen ratio. They will also have the latest Kirin 980 processor, with the 20 PRO offering 8GB of RAM, 2GB more than the HONOR 20.

The back of the phone also houses what is perhaps the most attractive aspect of the phone aesthetically. A dynamic holographic design was chosen to be the feature of the phone, with the three layers (glass, colour and depth) providing a visual treat as light passes through its glass back.

The HONOR 20 LITE is no slouch either, having a 6.21-inch display with over 90% screen to body ratio. It also has a teardrop notch featured on its screen.

Honor 20: Phone camera

However, the main selling point of the 20 series that HONOR is quick to promote is the capabilities of its camera. HONOR boasts that its smartphone has professional-grade cameras and invites users to “capture wonder”, as its slogan suggests.

We recently managed to get a first look with the HONOR 20 PRO and HONOR 20 LITE at an exclusive preview event here in Singapore.

The HONOR 20 PRO featured here comes in the Sapphire Blue colour variant. The dynamic holographic glass back is in full display, with accents of colours shown when the light hits the back. The 20 LITE sports a Phantom Red colour and has different gradients shown with a gleaming effect.

Honor 20: Back view

You can see the much-touted quad camera of the HONOR 20 PRO. The 48MP main camera comes with an industry leading F/1.4 aperture and contains functions like AIS Super Night mode for dark environment shoots and AI Ultra Clarity mode for sharpening images.

This is followed by a 16MP Super Wide Angle camera that provides a 117-degree wide angle image. The third camera is an 8MP telephoto camera that is capable of shooting at up to 30X zoom.

The 2MP Macro camera completes the setup, and it is able to shoot images at as little as 4cm. The front camera contains 32MP and features 3D Portrait Lighting to spice up all those selfies you take.

The HONOR 20 LITE also contains the same front camera as the 20 PRO and contains a triple camera set-up at the back, containing 24MP, 8MP and 2MP for its primary lens, wide-angle lens and depth sensor respectively.

There is currently no information on the release dates and pricing on the HONOR 20 and 20 PRO, however, the 20 LITE is already available for pre-order here: https://www.lazada.sg/shop/honor-official-store/
