Davis Guitar Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary With Live Performances And A Chance To Win A Guitar From ESP!

Starting out from a small shop in 1989, Davis Guitar has grown over the years to become a major distributor and retailer of musical instruments in Singapore. Join Davis Guitar in celebrating its 30-year milestone with a bang! Held at The Substation on Sunday, 16 June 2019, attendees can look forward to a guitar clinic from members of a renowned Taiwanese metal band, followed by an evening filled with smashing performances by various bands from Japan.

Guitar Clinic (5pm)

Bassist Doris Yeh plays for Taiwanese heavy metal band Chthonic, also known as “the Black Sabbath of Asia”. The band has received the Golden Melody Award for Best Group in 2003 and has since gone on to a successful career in Asia, Europe and in the US. Doris is also a familiar face who has graced the cover of FHM, Body Magazine and Revolver Magazine.

Join Doris Yeh and fellow bandmate and guitarist Jesse Liu as they provide tips and tricks to up your guitar antics!

Unclose (6.30pm)

Opening the evening of live performances is Unclose, a three-piece Japanese rock band that uses dark, roaring strings to create both explosive and deeply-moving music; providing a deeply intense live experience. Unclose is also known for being clad in gas masks, which is representative of ‘sekaikei’, a Japanese subculture of modern Japanese literature the members associate with, that  paints a picture of a dystopian world order. This will be the second time Unclose makes an appearance in Singapore, following their performance at Baybeats 2016.

C4 (8pm)

C4 is a Japanese rock band formed in 2007. They identify themselves as part of the visual-kei genre – a Japanese music movement and subculture whereby artistes wear makeup, and don elaborate hairstyles and costumes; usually coupled with androgynous aesthetics. C4 consists of Toki on vocals, bassist Junji, Tomoi on drums and – since December 2011 – guitarist Takayoshi Ohmura.
