Ed Sheeran Live in Singapore: Fans Advised Against Purchasing Resale Tickets

Ed Sheeran will be headlining at the mammoth National Stadium on Friday, 26 April 2019. It comes as no surprise seeing how he performed to sold-out shows at the 5,000-capacity Star Theatre in 2015, and two nights at the 10,000-capacity Singapore Indoor Stadium in 2017. Performing his largest tour yet, Ed Sheeran’s return to Singapore is part of his ‘Divide World Tour’, which spans over two years.

The global sensation should require little introduction: In just last year alone, Ed Sheeran won two Grammy Awards and clinched the Billboard Music Awards for both Top Artist and Top Male Artist. He has also penned songs for artists like Justin Bieber, The Weekend, Taylor Swift, and many more. In addition to being the second most streamed artist of all time in Spotify, Ed Sheeran has the most streamed song and album of all time – Shape of You and Divide.

If you like Ed Sheeran and rock music, you are in for a treat – ONE OK ROCK will be performing as a special guest for Ed Sheeran’s shows during the Asia leg of his World Tour – including Singapore!

Comprised of Taka on vocals, guitarist Toru, Bassist Ryota and Tomoya on drums, ONE OK ROCK formed in 2005 and have since produced songs across many genres – ranging from alternative rock to post-hardcore. The band’s ninth studio album ‘Eye of the Storm’ was released globally on 15 February this year, and ONE OK ROCK is set to kick off their UK and Europe Tour from 8 May 2019 onwards, after touring Asia with Ed Sheeran.

Ban of Resale Tickets

Unlike many other concerts in Singapore, fans of the English singer-songwriter are strongly advised not to purchase tickets from secondary vendors.

During his UK tour in 2018, Ed Sheeran made headlines when he implemented a strict rule: fans who bought their ticket from a secondary ticketing agent were denied entry. However, there were staff on-site who helped those affected to process a refund for their ticket, and they were also given the option of purchasing a ticket on-site if they still wished to enter the venue.

But Ed Sheeran is no bad guy, as he explicitly states his intentions to put a stop to the secondary ticketing market, which often included absurd prices and fan rip-offs. In an interview with Newsbeat, he said, “I hate the idea of people paying more than face value for tickets when you can get them at face value.”

His strict ticketing policy will be enforced in his Singapore concert as well, with the support from Sports Hub Tix. Tickets sold via official ticket vendors will be personalized with the name of the ticket purchaser printed on the tickets. Upon arrival, the purchaser may be required to provide a valid photo ID that matches the name on the tickets to be granted entry into the venue.

That unfunny, untalented dude who tells self-deprecating jokes of himself. A pretty damn good bottle-flipper too.
