Ed Sheeran Live in Singapore: Fans Advised Against Purchasing Resale Tickets

Ed Sheeran will be headlining at the mammoth National Stadium on Friday, 26 April 2019. It comes as no surprise seeing as he performed to sold-out shows at the 5,000-capacity Star Theatre in 2015; and two nights at the 10,000-capacity Indoor Stadium in 2017. Performing his largest show yet, Ed Sheeran’s return to Singapore is part of his ‘Divide World Tour’, which spans over two years.

If you like Ed Sheeran and rock, you are in for a treat; as ONE OK ROCK will be performing as a special guest for Ed Sheeran’s shows during the Asia leg of his World Tour– including Singapore!

Ban of Resale Tickets

Unlike many other concerts in Singapore, fans of Ed Sheeran are strongly advised not to purchase tickets from secondary vendors.

In case you are not up-to-date with news of Ed Sheeran, he made headlines during his UK Tour in 2018 when he implemented a strict rule whereby fans who bought secondary tickets entry to his show were denied entry. However, there were staff on-site who helped fans through the refund process of their secondary tickets and they were given the option of purchasing a ticket on-site if they still wished to enter the venue.

But Ed Sheeran is no bad guy, as he explicitly states his intentions to put a stop to the secondary ticketing market, which often included absurd prices and fan rip-offs. In an interview with Newsbeat, Ed said, “I hate the idea of people paying more than face value for tickets when you can get them at face value.”

His strict ticketing policy will be enforced in his Singapore concert as well, with the aid of Sports Hub Tix. Tickets sold via official ticket vendors will be personalized with the name of the ticket purchaser printed on the tickets. Upon arrival, the purchaser may be required to provide a valid photo ID that matches the name on the tickets to be granted entry into the venue.

About Ed Sheeran

The global sensation should require little introduction: In just last year alone, Ed Sheeran won two Grammy Awards and clinched the Billboard Music Awards for both Top Artist and Top Male Artist. He has also penned songs for artists like Justin Bieber, The Weekend, Taylor Swift, and many more.

But in case you have been living under a rock since 2011, a gander at Ed Sheeran’s list of accomplishments should give you an indication why you should get hyped for his show:

  • He has been awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire medal (MBE) by the Prince of Wales in 2017.
  • He has won an array of awards over his career to date including 4 Grammys, 4 Ivor Novellas, 5 BRIT Awards, 6 Billboard Awards and many more.
  • In addition to being the 2nd most streamed artist of all time in Spotify, he also has the most streamed song and album – Shape of You and Divide – of all time.

Of course, this list is not exhaustive – if it were, the list would need an article of its own.
