“X represents infinity, and my dream is to showcase most of these extraordinary artworks that embody this ‘X-factor’ so that the audience learns more than they think they see,” said Billy Mork, the founder and chief curator of X EDITION.
Realising both his dreams and those of photography enthusiasts here in Singapore, the inaugural X EDITION art fair will showcase sculptures, installations, media art, and allow the general public to have an open dialogue with famed photographers such as Hokkaido-based contemporary artist and photographer Season Lao, New
Regent Hotel was strategically chosen as the venue of his art fair to meet his main objective: to allow the public to be as close to the artists as possible, and in turn, allow them to take away fresh perspectives on contemporary art and photography through their personal interactions with the speakers.
He said, “in Singapore, it is hard to get someone to share with you how to do it, why they do it. With X EDITION, you can talk to the speakers face-to-face and ask any questions to these artists.”
Billy said that it has always been his dream to showcase different types of artworks. He shared, “I travel a lot to see all types of photography. In Asia, we don’t see a lot of types of artwork, and I hope to give the Singapore audience a chance to see different artworks and photography forms.”
He added, “X EDITION is created for visitors to take away an unconventional art experience. I am humbled to have these world-class photographers fly into Singapore to share their experiences with the thriving photographic community locally. We hope such interactions would better educate and move audiences, and of course, raise the quality of standards of photography in Singapore.”
