Friendship is one of the most fundamental things that makes life on Earth, meaningful. You could even go as far as to say that without friendship, we will all go extinct (even with food). For starters, friendship is about sharing pieces of life with a few others; and in turn, you get a kind of fulfilment that cannot be bought with anything else. Even a marriage is the evolution of the first step of making friends.
But what is the essence of true friendship? Is it just about sharing common ideals and having a good time together? The decisions are taken when faced with temptation or betrayal? Unconditional love? Or is it rather about the various ups and downs that happen behind the scenes of amicability between people?
All these heart-burning questions will be answered in their entirety at the premiere of SRT’s The Little Company’s The Nightingale. Based on the endearing tale by renowned theatre figure Hans Christian Andersen, The Nightingale aims to impart lessons on true friendship through a tapestry of fun, catchy music, enlivening acting, and impeccable stage design that is sure to keep you at the edge of your seat with evoked emotions.
On broadening our understanding of the world, all actors agreed that “Each character in the story faces uncertainty and fear in some form, and through the Nightingale’s song, they learn to get in touch with their emotions and are compelled to look beyond their own understanding of the world and broaden their horizons. Music helps to bridge our differences and encourages us to see the similarities between us.”
SRT has given us a sneak-peek to the actual play – check it out the trailer below!
I don’t know about you, but true friendship can be something that is easily taken for granted nowadays. It’s actually a really precious commodity.
When asked on the valuable lessons on friendship and interacting with others, Kim (who plays the Nightingale) said, “The Nightingale may be a bird but she learns how to forgive and see others’ perspective, and that friendship is really about give-and-take.”
