There are not too many places in the world where the sea stays frozen for half the year, especially when it’s walking distance from the city centre of Kemi, located in the Lapland of Finland – the world´s only ice diving location for the frozen sea and a fun playground for both locals and travellers alike.
In it, the City of Kemi is proud to present the Seaside Glass Villas, a unique accommodation experience situated on those frozen shows shores. Made mainly out of glass, including the roof – guests can lie comfortably in the bed, observe the starry sky and even the Northern Lights through their crystal-clear glass ceiling.
Furthermore, by the end of 2018, the all-year-round SnowCastle will be opened in the area, where travellers from around the world can experience the adventure of snow and ice, regardless the seasons of winter and summer! The SnowCastle is built solely of snow and ice, a true work of art. The SnowCastle consists of stunning ice sculptures, a huge SnowRestaurant, SnowHotel, and SnowChapel.
In addition to the Kemi SnowCastle, the city has gained great recognition for its Icebreaker Cruises. For over 30 years, the Icebreaker Sampo has provided unforgettable icebreaking cruises for travellers from 60 different countries.
