The fight is real. Captain America, The Winter Soldier, Falcon, and co-director Joe Russo came to Singapore last week to promote the upcoming blockbuster “Captain America: Civil War”, arriving in theatres Thursday, April 28.

In the movie, Captain America (Chris Evans) goes against Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) in order to protect his friend, the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), after being accused of carrying out an attack. The competitive theme/marketing gimmick follows off-screen as Anthony Mackie (Falcon) describes the suits of the members from Team Iron man. To the delight of the media crowd, he described Iron Man as a “Coca-Cola can”, War Machine as a “trash can”, the Vision as a “magic marker”, and Black Panther as “Michelin car tyres”.

Asked to describe the flick in one word, Stan chose “heartbreaking”, Mackie described it as “ass-kicking” and the Captain himself, “record-setting”.
Mackie also took another jab at #TeamIronMan, claiming they go “from the press conference to the spa, from the spa to their jet”, unlike #TeamCap, who will learn the country’s local culture and eat chilli crab and learn how to say “yes lah” and “no lah”. The clash between the superheroes in “Civil War” has friends picking sides and is seen as extremely crucial in the bigger scheme of things as it is the build up for “Avengers: Infinity War” arriving in 2018.

According to director Joe Russo, “This movie changes the psychology of the Marvel universe in a very significant way and the ramifications of Civil War are going to carry over into Infinity War.”
“Captain America: Civil War” opens in Singapore cinemas on Thursday, 28 April 2016.
