McDonald’s Chilli Crab Sauce Burgers Arrives Alongside Singapore-centric Sides and Dessert

McDonald’s Singapore is getting saucy ahead of National Day, launching the all-new Chilli Crab Sauce Burgers! Collaborating with popular seafood restaurant chain JUMBO Seafood, McDonald’s takes the savoury, sweet and tangy notes from chilli crab and turns it into a new form.

The concept was born last year, with McDonald’s creating over 50 iterations of the burgers before getting the seal of approval from JUMBO Seafood – thus creating the Chilli Crab Sauce Prawn Burger and Chilli Crab Sauce Chicken Burger.

Enjoy these Chilli Crab Sauce burgers in two patty options!

The two new burgers are the stars of the show, with McDonald’s bringing one of Singapore’s favourite dishes into a more accessible burger form. And one thing you’ll notice is that McDonald’s has also introduced new brioche buns to sandwich the delectable ingredients in the middle.

We start with the Chilli Crab Sauce Chicken Burger (Extra Value Meal from S$8.95), which features the juicy chicken patty we are all familiar with, and adds fluffy scrambled egg and lettuce before finishing it off with the chilli crab sauce.

The Chilli Crab Sauce Chicken Burger comes with a pairing of scrambled egg, lettuce, and of course, the chilli crab sauce

And then there is the Chilli Crab Sauce Prawn Burger (Extra Value Meal from S$8.95). Likewise, the scrambled egg, lettuce, and signature Chilli Crab sauce can be found here, but this time, McDonald’s pairs it with a golden crispy prawn patty. Better still, you can grab it either as a single or double patty option!

After trying the burgers, I can say that the Chilli Crab sauce works well with both the chicken and prawn patties; the tanginess of the sauce providing a great complement. It is also more on the sweeter side, with just a mild spice kick to it.

I personally preferred the Chilli Crab Sauce Prawn Burger more!

Since the sauce worked so well with both versions of the burgers, you might be tempted to test it out with other items from the McDonald’s menu. Luckily for you, you can order it by itself as a tub for S$1! Try it out with either nuggets, fries, or even the Apple Pie if you are adventurous.

Kampung Drumlets, Pulut Hitam Pie, Iced Dinosaur, and Chendol Soft Serve

But there is more to look forward to as we head towards a milestone SG60 National Day. Joining the Chilli Crab Sauce Burgers are new offerings in the snack, beverage, and dessert department – introducing the Kampung Drumlets, Pulut Hitam Pie, Iced Dinosaur, and Chendol Soft Serve!

Beginning with the sides, there is the Kampung Drumlets (from S$3.35), which are drumlets coated in a fragrant blend of chilli, turmeric, cumin and ginger to create a deliciously flavourful chicken snack.

The Pulut Hitam Pie comes back by popular demand!

The Pulut Hitam Pie (from S$1.80) also makes a return. Fans can savour the pie’s black glutinous rice and rich coconut cream filling again when it arrives back on the menu.

As for drinks, the new Iced Dinosaur is another option to quench your thirst with. Inspired by the Milo Dinosaur drink found in our local hawker centres, Iced Dinosaur features a generous sprinkling of Milo powder at the top for a concentrated dose of chocolatey and malty goodness.

Finally, for desserts, McDonald’s pays homage to Chendol with their Chendol Soft Serve ice cream (from S$1.30), featuring swirls of coconutty gula melaka flavours. Opt for a simple cone, or have it topped with chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, or crunchy OREO bits in a Sundae or McFlurry.
