Gotta Eat ‘Em All!—The Kettle Gourmet partners with Pokémon

Pokémon is no stranger to mixing up foods from different cultures—remember how they called onigiris (Japanese rice balls) jelly donuts?—and starting today, they’ll be mixing around with the local flavours that every Singaporean knows and loves with a new partnership with Singapore-based popcorn manufacturer The Kettle Gourmet.

If you aren’t familiar with The Kettle Gourmet, the company was born from Founder and CEO Zac Chua’s experience of smelling someone’s smuggled Nasi Lemak while he was enjoying his popcorn in the theatre. Now, his company produces popcorn snacks infused with local flavours, like Nasi Lemak, to instil a sense of nostalgia as people snack on the popular cinema treat.

The three iconic starters from the Pokémon franchise will be gracing the packages of three of The Kettle Gourmet’s most crowd-pleasing flavours — Kaya Butter Toast, Chilli Crab and Chocolate.

Charmander, the Fire-type, will be the face of the Chilli Crab flavour, which most Singaporeans will know as a dish whose spice rivals the heat from the Pokémon’s tail. Bulbasaur is featured on the package of Kaya Butter Toast, which has a flavour that is similarly aromatic to the Grass-themed Pokémon. Lastly, Squirtle surfs up the Chocolate flavour from The Kettle Gourmet’s All Time Classic range.

These uniquely packaged snacks will be available as a set that contains all three flavours. Each set also has a special collector’s card inside that fans can collect. There are five to grab that include the three legendary bird Pokémon—Articuno, Zapdos and Moltress—and the mystical Mew and the science-born brethren Mewtwo. And you can learn more about each of them by scanning the QR code on their card.

Gathering all five special collectors’ cards also has its rewards where the first ten people to do so will be given assorted bundles from The Kettle Gourmet featuring the brand’s six types of popcorn.

These sets are available for S$25 at The Kettle Gourmet’s website, Shopee, Lazada, Qoo10, Redmart, Grabfood, FoodPanda, AirAsia Food, VP Label or instore at the Pokémon Centre, located at Jewel Changi Airport as well as all 27 FairPrice Finest outlets, Komma Cafe, Toy Outpost and Pick & Go.

With only 5000 sets available across the country, these will only be around for a limited time. So whether you’re gotta collect ‘em all or gotta eat ‘em all, now’s no better time to go out and try the new Pokémon snacks from The Kettle Gourmet!
