Viva La Vida: Coldplay Brings Record-Breaking World Tour to Singapore for 4 Nights!

Don’t you feel like something’s different? Don’t you feel like something is coming our way? Or perhaps, someone? If you remember the news that broke the internet on Monday, you know exactly what I’m talking about. One of the best-selling music acts of all time, Coldplay, is coming to Singapore!

Performing on 23, 24, 26, and 27 January 2024 at Singapore National Stadium, the Singapore stop is part of their Music Of The Spheres World Tour! This makes them the first act to play four nights at the venue. And guess what. Tickets are yours for the taking from 19 June 2023. Viva La Vida!

Lights, music, fireworks, action.

Coldplay is iconically known for their incredible live performances. Going to a Coldplay concert has literally become a bucket list item for music and concert enthusiasts. Myself included! This tour has already won awards too – Favourite Touring Artist at the 2022 AMAs and Tour of The Year at the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards. Since the tour started in March 2022, the band has sold over 7 million tickets – the most for any tour over the last two years! So now you know for sure this is a must-go event. But just in case you need more reasons to attend the concert of a lifetime, keep reading.

From being quoted by The Times as ‘The Greatest Live Music Show Ever’ to ‘A Fantastical Feel-Good Bonanza’ by NME, the secret to Coldplay’s spectacular shows lies in their setlist.

They’ve crafted the perfect setlist consisting of anthemic bops to calming songs which will make you sing your heart out and get you in your feels. Their sets from their other stops include iconic favourites like A Sky Full of Stars, Viva La Vida, Yellow, Something Just Like This, Fix You and more. You can already picture just how immaculate the vibes will be as the entire crowd belts those notes as if they’re in a giant karaoke session!

‘Genuinely stunning’ – The Guardian

But that’s not all. At past stops, each fan was also given an LED wristband that changes colours with the songs. Picture this. Your wristband lights up in yellow during Yellow as you belt out every word. And when A Sky Full of Stars starts to play, you raise your hands as high as you can as every wristband flashes in different colours, resembling a sky full of twinkling stars. As Chris Martin starts to melodically sing the heartbreaking yet heart-mending Fix You, tears stream down your face as the whole venue is lit up with wristbands.

The lights, the music, and the electric atmosphere – a Coldplay concert is truly unmissable.

The Music of the Spheres World Tour is Coldplay’s eighth concert tour to date and one which required extensive planning over two years too. After the A Head Full of Dreams Tour from 2016 to 2017, Coldplay pledged not to tour until they could ensure an environmentally-friendly tour.

And just last week, the band issued an update on this tour’s sustainability initiatives, revealing that on a show-by-show comparison, their current tour has produced 47% fewer CO2 emissions than their previous stadium tour! On top of that magnificent feat, a tree was pledged to be planted for each ticket purchased, and 5 million trees have already been planted worldwide. So your attendance makes a direct impact on the world!

But wait. There’s more. At specific venues, kinetic floors were installed in certain points around the stadium so that the audience’s dancing could be converted into energy that helped to literally power the show. Electricity-generating pedal bikes were also installed so fans could actively charge show batteries.

Also, the LED wristbands that we’ve been talking about are made from 100% plant-based materials. They are collected, sterilised, and recharged to reduce wristband production after every show. The electronic components will then be repurposed for wristbands to be used in future tours.

Coldplay has quite literally redefined touring, now at a whole new level. This is absolutely revolutionary!

So, have I convinced you yet? Have I convinced you to find buddies (or not) and get your tickets to the show? Have I convinced you to start your 2024 right with a concert experience like no other, complete with lights and beautiful music that will keep you dancing all evening?

If yes, then listen up. Tickets start at just S$68, but further pricing details and the seating map have yet to be released. General ticket sales begin on Tuesday, 20 June 2023. But if you want a little head-start before everyone else, you can get your tickets via the Artiste Presale or the Live Nation Presale instead on Monday, 19 June, from 2pm to 11:59pm.

Psst! A little birdie also told me that a limited number of Infinity Tickets would also be available for the shows. Infinity Tickets are released for every Coldplay show to make this record-breaking tour accessible to fans for an affordable price. They will cost an equivalent of US$20 (approx SGD$26.81) per ticket. But further details about this will be provided at a later date, so keep your eyes and ears peeled!

That’s why it feels like something is different, like something, or rather someone, is coming our way. They’re coming to make history. Are you ready, Singapore?
