Throw Down Your Crown, with Jean Tan’s ‘Crowns’

If you’re looking to unwind and pick up an easy listening track, look no further than Singapore singer-songwriter Jean Tan‘s latest single, ‘Crowns’! Arranged by Kevin Foo of Beep Studios (who’s worked with the likes of Linying and Charlie Lim), ‘Crowns’ is an easy listening tune that blends breezy folk guitar with a beautiful electronic soundscape and a merry little trumpet lead – incredibly fitting for Jean’s soulful vocals.

Going deeper, Jean akin’s ‘Crowns’ as the imagery of things we hold dear in life, and as a reflection of the inner struggles with loss, when our hands are emptied of them just at our prime. As a sort of realistic optimism, Jean’s song captures this in a pretty relaxed atmosphere, in which she explains: “Life is never just linear, and while it feels like it’s going downhill – life works in cycles, and what goes down must come up. In due season, when the stars in the universe align – somehow, things are made right again.”

Having performed at the National Stadium and Gardens by the Bay for SEA Games 2015, with her own written song for the games called ‘Colours’. We can expect much more out of her, in her upcoming EP “Blooms”, set for release later this year – including her next single release this April!
