Song Of The Week #4 – Selena Gomez

Each week, the Music vertical spotlights one song – new or #throwback, local or international, and across various genres. Check back every Monday for our curated pick of the week, and drop us an email at [email protected] if you’re a local artist with a new track that you’ll like us to hear!

Here’s the hard truth: Selena Gomez does not have a strong voice. Thankfully, what she does have is an impressive team of songwriters. Since her break/split/graduation from her attachés The Scene, Selena has quite literally been carried by the likes of Ester Dean, Stargate, and Benny Blanco. Not complaining though – she’s been delivering hit after hit since her solo debut in 2013.

Promotional single “Me & The Rhythm” is reportedly one of Selena’s favourites off the album, and it’s not hard to see why! The quiet, soft-spoken verses are well-supported with disco-tinged beats that complement without being distracting. Of course, the catchy, feathery hook in the chorus is just one of those lines you’ll be squeaking along to anywhere and everywhere. Subtle yet punchy, the track fits almost any occasion – prepping for Friday night, casual drive in the afternoon, and thanks to the semi-PG lyrics, even family-friendly events.

Selena’s latest album “Revival” is out now worldwide! Get the deluxe edition featuring 16 tracks (including Me & The Rhythm) here!
